Contour DVR - Shut Down/Reboot Issue
I have had Cox Contour now for about 2 months, overall it not been too bad an experience, unfortunately, the enjoyment of this service is being marred by the Cisco 9865HDC shutting down and rebooting at daily, but irregular intervals.
I have disconnected the power for 5 mins and restarted the unit but the problem persists, shutting down at a key moment in a program and when eventually restarting, tuning to a different channel.
Anyone else having this problem or should I just arrange to get the equipment changed out?
Thanks

Does the 9865HDC turn itself back on, or do you have to use the power button on your remote? Is your receiver power manager set to SETTINGS->RECEIVERS->POWER MANAGER->RECEIVER POWER->POWER OFF MANUALLY ???

Is it just one particular box this is happening on or all boxes in your home?

Good Question Chris, I am not aware of the other boxes having he same problem. Then again they are not watched as frequently. Next time the problem occurs on the DVR box I'll have to check the others, although they may not do this concurrently.

It happened again tonight. I checked one of the other receivers and that was working normally while the dvr unit shut down and started to reboot. However, it did not reboot successfully. It stopped on the contour welcome page that is shown wile loading the interactive program guide. The activity indicator stopped and I left it for 5 mins in this condition to see if download activity would recommence. It did not, so I pulled the power connector, waited for 10 to 15 seconds and re-powered the unit. This time it booted and downloaded the guide successfully.

Is the cable straight from the wall to the receiver or is there a splitter?

Stephanie,
the wiring is straight from the wall to the receiver.

I am having this same issue with our Cisco box. It is enormously frustrating. Did switching the ends of the cable work?

well, a month passed and I thought the reboot issue had resolved itself. The only issue during this time was having to reboot the master unit as the slave unit wouldn't communicate correctly with the master.
Just now though, while watching a recorded program, it rebooted!
i'm kinda missing my old Motorola DVR, never had any problems with that....
