Contour 2 Manual Record

Is it possible to setup a manual recording on the new Contour 2 DVR?  If so, how do you do it?

I am aware of the information in this article.  I was looking for the ability to setup a Manual Recording.  For example, the Hallmark Channel has a Saturday night movie the airs from 9:00 PM - 11:00 PM.  As the title changes every week, I cannot setup a Series Recording.  A Manual Recording option would record any movie that meets the criteria discussed previously.  This capability was available in the previous Contour Record 6 box that I had.  I suspect that the Manual Recording option is not available in the Contour 2 DVR.  Just wanted to hear this from someone more knowledgeable about the capabilities of this new box than I am.

Hi SCABob,

You can set a manual recording by finding that future title in the guide and pressing the record button. The link the forums member posted has the instructions for this type of setup listed as "Schedule an individual recording". If this is not working, please let us know what happens when you attempt to record future programming.

Thank you,

NicholeC, did you even read the question?????

The OP asked if he could setup to record the same time period on a given channel every week, regardless of title, like you did in the past with your VCR (no EPG).  Your response was you can record a single occurrence of a title.  Not the same thing.

I'm having a difficult time trying to explain what I want to do.  Perhaps the following instructions, pertaining to an earlier DVR, will clarify.  Per the following, I want to know if the same capability exists with the new Contour 2 DVR.  If it does, how do I setup a manual recording??

Create a manual recording.
  1. Tune to the channel you want to record, or navigate to it in the on-screen guide.
  2. Press REC on the Cox remote control.

Result: The Record window displays with the current show title in the header and Record this show selected.

  3. Press the up or down arrow button on the remote to highlight Create a manual recording.
  4. Press SELECT on the remote.

Result: The Manual Recording window displays with the current show title at the bottom of the window.

  5. In the Manual Recording window, use the right and left arrows on the remote to move between columns and the up and down arrows to change the following settings in each column.
    • Type - Choose Individual to create a one-time only recording, or Recurring to record for a given time frame on multiple specified days.
    • Channel Choose the channel from which to record.
    • Day(s) - Choose the day, for individual recordings, or days, for recurring recordings, on which to record.
    • Start - Choose the start time for the manual recording.
    • End - Choose the end time for the manual recording.
  6. When all settings are correct, press the A button on the remote to confirm the recording.

I just spent a few minutes looking into this and found an option that is not exactly the same but may help. If you arrow over to the left on the guide so that it highlights the channel number/logo and then hit select, it will prompt you with: watch/record/favorite/channel info. Highlight & hit select on record and then the channel recording options screen will show up. The downside is that you would need to set it each time(at least once every 2 weeks), as it doesn't have the option to save this as a recurring recording for specific days. It only allows for specific dates/times that are available in the next 2 weeks. Hopefully this helps a little bit.

Brian, please escalate this up the support line, so that the higher ups can get this feature added.  I would like to record 1 hour of Headline News every morning, instead of the 5 hours that comes on.  I know how to do this with the old Contour system, but would like to do so for the current system.

PHXDave:  Thank you for understanding my question and for moving it up the chain for resolution. I was finding it difficult to find anyone who understood what I was trying to do.
