Connection issues
Ok so I'm paying almost $100 a month for what is suppose to be fast and reliable internet through cox. For some reason I've had issues with it for the past couple months. Right now Its not working at all so I'm using phone data, fun stuff. Not to mention when it is working, I'm still getting kicked off every 10 minutes while playing online games and whatnot. I refuse to continue paying $100 for Internet when I can bundle with directv and get their fiber optic u-verse that they claim is faster, but will be charging me $80 for Internet AND TV, who knows. Anyone else having annoying connection issues with cox?

Were you looking for other people having the problem or were you looking for people to help you with yours?
First thing I would start of with are the signal levels. You can usually find them on the 192.168.100.1 webpage, unless its a gateway ::cringe:: then I would need to know the model number.
Also, when you lose the connection on 1 PC, do the others go down? Even wired connections?

Looking for a little of both lol. We mainly only use our cellphones (iPhones) and my PS3. She has a dell laptop but we rarely use it. We both have been having issues and it effects the PS3 as well so it has to be the connection rather than the devices. Also, it's all wireless other than the modem.

Oklahoma City, chiming in! Having the same issues it seems. My connection just randomly drops off every few minutes. It would be nice to at least get a headsup from cox about this.

I looked from here however everything appears to be OK with the connection from this end as far as I can tell. Are you still having any problems with the connection?

I have ATT Uverse which is who Direct uses to supply internet. They have goood customer service most times, I'm leaving them however to be a cox internet customer. The Uverse is not available higher than18mbps here. I can get 100mbps for about 30 dollars more a month above the 6mbps I currently have. The thing I want to warn you about is ATT has much lower data limits than Cox so check that b4 you decide if it could be a factor. 1 gb is 15.00 if you go over. The connection problems you experience may be router/modem related and try direct connect with cable to pc for speed test. From reading many poste on this site I get there is a problem in high traffic areas at peak hours of use. You could change the routers channel to a less used one. Many proplr setup the routers at default and they all use the same channel on most. Got to the farthest end of the channel away from the one used. Channels are just fractions of a frequency away from each other and when everyone around you is on the same it gets saturated. The idea is to isolate the problem by a process of what it's not. If all devices do the problem then it's 1 of 3 things router, cable modem, or the entire network. GL
