Connecting the Mini Box to Xbox One

I am trying to connect my mini box (Model #: DMS2344UHDS) to my Xbox One and I am not getting any picture. The Xbox sees the cable box fine but from what I can gather, the remote code seems to be the problem. The remote code that is used during the auto-setup (which I found out was severe different ones) didn't work at all. After looking at a few similar issues in these forums, the one that got the closest to working for me was C4079, where I actually did get picture for a few seconds before freezing up and not registering at all. Anyone know what's going on or how to resolve this?

Why do you need a IR remote code to get a picture? I understand to change channels or control anything, but as long as you can power it on, it should give a picture no matter what code you use.

With that said, also try C3774 and 10084. I also found this thread that helps with Xbox1/Contour which may be generally helpful.

That's the part I can't figure out, but using the different IR codes was the only thing that changed anything, even temporarily. And thats one of the threads I looked at initially but didn't help since my cable box acts more like a digital tuner than a DVR (I don't have Contour).

Now I've got it where its alternating between the "Looking for picture" and "We found your picture" screens on the Xbox every 15 seconds or so, so I have no idea what the ***'s going on.

Have you tried connecting the mini box directly to your TV and making sure it loads up and produces a picture? If it's a new mini box it could be having some kind of issue. Or maybe a first time setup window is stopping the Xbox detect function.

If that works, how do you have the mini box connected to the Xbox?

Last, I found this which may help:

"NOTE: Certain set-top boxes (such as EVOLUTION branded boxes) may require the user to put the box into RF PAIRING mode before RF pairing can occur. To do so, locate REMOTE CONTROL in the on-screen MENU and select REMOTE CONTROL PAIRING before following the steps shown below."

But this would assume the box is using RF, which I understand doesn't work in Cox network. I assume the Xbox One has some kind of IR blaster to output to mini box? Or using IR input on back of mini box?

The mini box works fine when hooked up to another TV without the Xbox, but now the weird thing is I got the picture. Somehow turning the cable around got the picture working, but I just can't change channels.

I (supposedly) don't need to have a line of sight on the cable box as long as it is connected via HDMI (which it is). I have tried a few different model number when setting up the cable box (hardware & software model numbers) and I get picture with all of them, but no control. The only way to change channels currently is to walk into the room with the cable box and use the Cox remote on the box itself.

JamesK77,

It sounds as though the Mini Box is working as intended when functioning with the Cox Remote in line of sight to the Mini Box to change channels. Do you have the Mini box from the wall, then to the Xbox, to the TV in a separate room?

How? HDMI-CEC? I think that could your problem.

I currently have the cable box connected to the wall in the other room and am running a long HDMI cable to my Xbox in another room. The room with my xbox doesn't have a cable outlet, which is why I have to run it in from the other room.

And I think you might be right about the HDMI-CEC. It's confusing since Microsoft claims I can also control my cable box using the Kinect IR sensor, although that doesn't seem to work either.

So now the question is can I get a working remote code that somehow allows me to use my Kinect as an IR sensor (since th several codes I have tried or have been automatically obtained don't seem to) or is there some sort of peripheral that will somehow solve the HDMI-CEC problem?

I know this sounds convoluted as *** but I appreciate the input =)

How long is long? Also, what type of HDMI?

Why not run cable from other room?

Read this and seems to say its all done by IR. Where are you seeing it's through HDMI?I was just guessing it was HDMI-CEC because you said thats how it should be connected. If you don't have a IR sensor going from Xbox to mini box, it's no point. Even if the Xbox WAS using HDMI-CEC, it wouldn't use a REMOTE IR code to do it. I think you have it hooked up wrong.
