Cisco DPQ3925: No Bridge Mode, IP Passthrough Not Working
Firmware: d3925-P15-5-c2100r5593-151216a-COX.bin
This firmware version does not include bridge mode. It does however come with IP passthrough. IP passthrough does allow my NetGear router to acquire an IP address via DHCP, but I am not able to surf the web or ping public IP addresses. I have attempted to reboot my router as well as the Cox router several times, and in different orders. I have called Cox tech support at least four times regarding this matter, and no one seems to know what I'm talking about or how to provide the setup that I want. I myself am a repair tech for a business telecom company and know how simple it is to clear an ARP cache or switch the allowed MAC address depending on what type of CO equipment you have. The Cisco DPQ3925 is ok, but I want to use my own device without having to double NAT. I hope someone has a better answer. Thanks.

To my knowledge Cox has disable the bridge function on gateways, either removing the ability to turn bridge mode on or just making it not work. I would suggest swapping the DPQ3925 for a DPQ3212 which is a stand alone phone modem, no NAT.

The previous answer provided is indeed correct. If you're wanting to use your own router you'll need to replace the gateway with a stand-alone cable modem. If you still have active phone you could swap it for something like the DPC3212 which would also allow you to remove any home networking services from your account.

NightTech, what is IP passthrough? In looking at the manual, I see IPsec passthrough which is a VPN function. I don't see anything about IP passthrough.
+1 for using a stand alone modem or phone modem. That should solve your issues.

Nice catch. Is OP getting a public IP to the router with gateway in place? Or was the IP a 192.x.x.x private IP?
