Cisco 9865HDC reboot
any suggestions? My Cisco 9865HDC reboots almost every time I try to change the channel or switch to the guide, The video will freeze and then the box reboots. I will restart automatically and when there is video again I attempt to switch to a program I want either by opening the guide or the channel up/down buttons... Boom reboot again. I have disconnected the power for more than 30 minutes sometimes and no change.. This is frustrating and has ruined hours of program watching since we had the new multi-DVR installed -- lost automatic recordings etc........... I may have to convince my spouse to let me switch cable providers. It is that bad. If I pay all of this money for the newest set up recommended by the COX service personnel and it never works I might as well pay someone who has equipment that is not complete **... My spouse and children watch videos on the internet instead .. BS I say BS

I had such trouble with my 9865 that I replaced it with a Tivo. Troubles including frequent freezing up, not being able to change channels, not being able to turn it on, and no output. It just became useless, actually worse since there was no output much of the time it was acting up. Workaround was to pull the plug on it for a couple of minutes and see if it would come up, usually taking 15+ minutes. A couple of weeks later, a Cox tech was out at my place fixing an internet issue, and he noted that the 9865 needed a nearly perfect signal to work correctly. Once I got the Tivo cable cards matched (an issue in itself a couple of months ago) the Tivo has been working fine. Before giving up on the 9865, you might want to have your cable signal checked, but note that it may cost you $50 for this.

Thanks for posting. I'm sorry to hear you're having this experience. Is the box plugged into a surge protector, or a wall outlet? Is there a splitter on the coax line going to the box?
Thank you,

It is currently plugged into a surge protector. Note... This was installed by a COX install tech.. No splitter on the line. Coax goes from wall to box directly..

issue remains.. Watching random channel and when I attempt o open the guide or change to a different channel the video freezes for a few moments with audio and then the box shuts down and restarts after a few moments.
The second issue that I have noticed (unknown if related) is that when the box is on the display changed from dim to bright display and then blinks repeatedly at random intervals. I have read some info in the trouble shooting guide and it references the different ppatterns meaning that one thing or another is downloading or updating. but the thing with that is .... the blinking etc... never stops

I will say that the move from the surge protector to the wall outlet seems to have reduced the frequency of the reboots issue as I was able to watch several different channels on multiple tuners without issue for several hours...Will monitor the issue and keep you updated

The issue continues even with the power being plugged into the wall outlet
