ChrisL -- I need your help with my email account please
I have been using POP to check my email with Thunderbird, but now I have a smartphone and someone said I need to setup IMAP since I will be checking my email in two places.
When I setup a new email profile in thunderbird to IMAP (cause you can't switch from pop to imap) it does not connect to the imap server. "login to server imap.cox.net failed"
I know my settings are correct because I have another cox email address that is working fine. And, I can login to webmail fine.
Any chance you can work your magic on your end to make my email work with imap?
i have tried setting up the email on Opera Mail, Live mail, and my iPhone as well and none of them are working either, so I know its not a client issue (which phone and chat support is telling me is the problem - "its the client").
Thanks!

I found a few accounts for you however none of them are indicating a problem other than some possible delays resulting from having a lot of contents. I'd suggest checking to make sure your settings are configured as per the following link and try again:

residential support wasn't helpful so i called business support.
he said its a password issue. that pop, imap, and webmail were not synced with the same password. something about provisioning.
can you fix that?
can you set the merrylin email to all the same password for pop/imap/webmail and then email me the password on my primary email account?
he couldn't fix it since he is on the business support side...
thanks for trying to help!

Our email accounts only have 1 password regardless of what method of access you choose. Make sure you're not using your email address but rather your username for the user ID in the account settings.
