Channel Guide
I've read others who have expressed frustration over the channel guide and I wanted to chime in as well. I could not imagine a messier or more frustrating design. I am forced to browse through MULTIPLE copies of the same channel. It creates unbelievably useless lines of channels to scroll through just to see what's on a channel I want to watch. I can't believe Cox makes the Guide so impossible to actually customize. The skipped channels option is practically useless since you have to leave all duplicates. The favorite channel option view is HORRIBLE! It won't allow me to see the channels in grid mode...WHY NOT?!!! It frustrates me to the point of wanting to cancel my subscription. It seems from reading the other posts of subscribers with the exact same issue (particularly in Tulsa, which is where I live) that Cox is going to do absolutely nothing about this. That is very bad business, in my opinion.

I appreciate how frustrating this must be, and I apologize! Do you have the Contour Guide or Rovi Guide?

In what city and state are you located? I know there were some channel changes planned for the mid-August timeframe in many markets. All channel changes are announced in the "News From Cox" section of your monthly statement. What channel are you looking for?

Direct TV has a button for "only show channels I get." This is a real failing on Cox's part. With so many cord-cutters out there, it seems they would do well to make their TV interface more user-friendly.

At this time we have no such option unfortunately. I'll be happy to pass along your feature request. -Chris

And then search within the guide stops working after a week. I can browse to shows in the guide that title search won't find.
This software is 100% junk. We're paying for service and not getting it.

Passing suggestions along has done no good. How about passing along a suggestion to fire the entire software maintenance staff?

How can delete channels from my lineup? I would like to delete the hundreds of useless channels to eliminate clutter.

This feature isn't available in the channel guide. Depending on the type of box you have you can however utilize the Favorites / Skipped Channels feature to accomplish some of this.

I have the CMX3202 cable box, and although in the Settings menu I have options to identify Skipped channels, the channels never actually disappear from my guide. They are skipped when I'm using the chan up/down buttons, but they still show up in the guide. I also have no way in the guide to select Customer or alternate views of channels, as others in different threads have suggested. Is this basic feature not available on my cable box, or is there something wrong with mine?

Skipped channels work via the Skip button, and don't effect what shows in the guide. The guide is downloaded from one central location, and isn't customized per account. There is a way only to have it show your favorite channels, but then you have to go in and program only the channels you "get" as favorites. This will probably change when IPTV takes off with Gigablast and channel line ups can be customized.

Numerous people have stated that there is away to mark your favorite channels and then see only those in a list. I can mark channels as favorite, but how do I view only those channels? I see no option like that in my menus.

Press the Guide button several times in a row and it cycles through several types of guide views, one of which is List Favorite Channels View. There is no Grid Favorites Channels View, because why would Cox do something obvious and useful? If there was, nobody would ever need to use the Skipped Channels List, which is a total disaster.
Go into Settings->Guide Options->Default Guide View and you can make List Favorites the default for your Guide button so it comes up the first time you push it instead of having to push it five times in a row or whatever.
This is on a box with the Contour software, so YMMV if you have some other box or software, or just because Cox's software people are incompetent and your particular box is doing something wrong.
