CG3000D Ethernet Ports

The CG3000D works fine with the Internet, in any of the four Ethernet ports, attached to my desktop PC.

However, I have a couple of other Ethernet devices I have tried (in all four Ethernet ports, using with more than one Ethernet cable), and all I get is an orange light on the front of the CG3000D for the other two devices.  The two devices include a Linksys/Cisco 8 port switch and a Netgear XE104 'homeplug'.  These two items worked perfectly with my old cable modem and wireless router when we were on Suddenlink, until we moved and signed up with Cox.

Any suggestions or thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

That worked !

Ethernet cable from CG3000D to switch

Ethernet from switch to PC (Internet works)

Ethernet from switch to homeplug to ROKU works

You are a genius

I now have it all back the way I initially had it, and now the homeplug is working.  I have no idea why it wouldn't work when I initially had the PC and homeplug both plugged into the CG3000D.

Thank you SO MUCH for taking the time to help me!

How do they not work? If you mean the Link light, then amber means its a 10/100 connection instead of 10/100/1000. Cant say anything about the switch without knowing the model, but the Netgear XE104 is 10/100. As long as your not looking for speeds at or above 100Mbps, it shouldn't be a problem.

The two devices are not connected to the network, therefore not connected to the Internet.  Orange lights on the front of the CG3000D, no matter which of the four ports I try, PC connection is a green light on the CG3000D.

Linksys Workgroup Switch 10/100 8-port, model # EZXS88W.

They used to attach with my old Netgear wireless router and have green lights on the front, and worked perfectly.

I am stumped

Besides the light, how else is it not functioning? If you go CG3000D > Linksys switch > PC do you get a IP and are able to get online? If not, what error do you get?

The light just represents the connection rate. See here.

An ex coworker clued me in to what caused the problem, and how to resolve it:

"1. Unplug both XE104's.

2. Plug in an ethernet cable from the gateway device to the first XE 104, then plug the XE 104 into the electrical outlet.
3. Then plug in the second (remote) XE 104 to the electrical outlet where you need access.
4. After getting green lights on the XE 104's you can plug in the Yamaha receiver.
The problem comes from plugging in out of order. This allows the XE104 to assign its default IP address rather than allowing the address to be assigned by DHCP in the router, so they can't communicate since they are not on the same subnet.
You didn't have the problem in Jonesboro because the ip gateway there was 192.168.1.1 rather than 192.168.0.1 therefore it was in the same subnet as the default address on the XE 104 (second octet is different)."
