Can't Get Remote to Work with new Cable Box

This Cox business is making me feel like an idiot. Today we tried to hook up a second cable box that we got from the Cox store. Over the years I've matched many universal remotes with their TV's and other devices but this one has me baffled. The box is Scientific Atlanta, Explorer 4240 HDC. The remote is URC-8020-MOTO Version 1.1. There must be a thousand brand listings on the code sheet - but not for our brand receiver. I tried the search function, holding the Select button for over two minutes, with no response.  Help!

Our first receiver is a Cisco brand and the remote has Cisco in the name. I didn't set it - I assume the technician did it as part of the original installation.

From the model number it looks like one of the remotes that comes with the cable box, is this true? If so, it should work with the cable box, to change the channel, bring up the menu, etc, without any programming needed. It just wont do TV functions, like powering the TV on/off and volume.I would see if the remote works on other boxes(not TVs). If it does, then probably something wrong with the box. If it doesn't work with other boxes, then probably something wrong with the remote and need to bring it back or some how get a new one.

As for programming the remote, what is the model number of your TV and any other A/V equipment you want to program the remote for?

Are you sure about the 8020 model number? List of remotes at:

Sounds like an URC-8820. To make it work on Cisco/SA, press the "CABLE" button, then hold "SWAP" and "A" in together until the "CABLE" light blinks twice.

Or it could be that the "MOTO" remote won't work with CISCO/SA equipment.

Yes, it's 8820. (A typo that hurts my little editor-picky heart.) And it worked!! Hooray!

Where could I have found the SWAP-A routine, other than asking you nice folks on the Forum? it would help to know where to look in case I find something else that baffles my brain.

Thanks.
