Can't get connected to the router via wifi
Hi all,
Services: Cox High-Speed Internet Ultimate Package
Router/Modem UBEE DDW366 Dual Band 2.4/5.0
We have a very good connection with the internet when directly connected via Ethernet cable.
The below are all WiFi capable and had been connected previously, now currently unable to connect via the WiFi:
Laptop 2 year old Toshiba Satellite - Connects to router, "no internet connection"
Ipad - will now not connect
TV - will now not connect
Satellite - Says it is connected, but suspect the "no internet connection"
Samsung Blue Ray player - will not connect
Apple (new version) TV Box - Continues to work
HP Pro Book laptop - plays hard to get and will some times connect
Lenovo all in one PC - Continues to work
None of the above are typically connected by ethernet cable
They will attempt to connect but never do (I will try both bandwidths)If and when they do I get a message "No Internet Connection"
We are fairly close to the router, and have tried even in the same room, no bueno!
All of the above have been connected and working at various times during the time I have used the UBEE DDW366 with COX as the internet provider, which makes this a very frustrating and confusing situation.
Prior to moving here and switching to COX all of the above were able to be connected via a Motorola SB6580 with TWC as the provider. I could count on one hand minus a couple of fingers for the amount of connection issues, it just worked every single time so am I missing something, is there some kind of magic to get these items online again?
I have done the following:
Reset the router/modem, both quick reset and a hard reset
Turned off the router/modem for a brief period
Rest adapters on the hardware of my laptops, turned off the other items and switched them back on to reset
Stared at it, pleading with this piece of plastic - no really!
Gone to church
Reset the router/modem, both quick reset and a hard reset
Turned off the router/modem for a brief period
Repeat and Rinse
Repeat and Rinse
So ultimately my questions are,
1. Is this the way it's supposed to be?
2. Can I expect an easier plug and play experiance
3. Should I cancel and go with an inferior service just to get the connectivity I need
4. can you help!
I am not a whiner despite the above and do try to solve prior to posting for assistance.
Thanks in advance, John Clark

First the obvious, do you see your network (SSID) on the devices trying to connect? If so, are you sure you entered the correct password (PSK) for you network? Are you sure you aren't trying to connect to a neighbor's network by accident? What error (if any) are you getting when trying to connect the iPad? I know these are basic but have to ask.
Strange that a couple of devices are working correctly (ATV & Lenovo LT) and the HP can connect sometimes. Have you signed on the the device and made any setup changes? I see where the device supports up to 8 SSIDs, could you be connecting to one that has not been setup correctly, like a guest network that doesn't have internet access?

Thanks for responding, my answers are in blue text.
First the obvious, do you see your network (SSID) on the devices trying to connect? Yes
If so, are you sure you entered the correct password (PSK) for you network? Yes
Are you sure you aren't trying to connect to a neighbor's network by accident? Yes
What error (if any) are you getting when trying to connect the iPad? no error message, little connection icon keeps spinning
Strange that a couple of devices are working correctly (ATV & Lenovo LT) and the HP can connect sometimes.
Have you signed on the the device and made any setup changes? At first I changed the default pw and access pass phrase - these were reset to default after the last hard reset
I see where the device supports up to 8 SSIDs, could you be connecting to one that has not been setup correctly, like a guest network that doesn't have internet access? No, have not set up additional SSID's or guest networking.
The system is configured as new, the only modification is the admin password to manage the device via my browser. The SSID is as shipped with the default pass phrase on the label being used during the WiFi setup.
Thanks, John.

"Reset the router/modem, both quick reset and a hard reset

Are you saying you have a modem AND router? Or are you just calling the gateway a modem/router? If you have a modem, what model? The BEE DDW366 is a wireless gateway, so it has no WAN port to connect to the modem.
Also, I wonder if this has anything to do with IPv6. The fact the Apple devices still works makes me think it has something to do with that. Do you get a valid IP when connecting to the Ubee? 169?
Also, do you have any wired devices? Do those get online?
Last, has the Ubee ever worked correctly? Could be a bad unit.

Also, I wonder if this has anything to do with IPv6. The fact the Apple devices still works makes me think it has something to do with that. Do you get a valid IP when connecting to the Ubee? 169? Not using IPv6 for anything
Also, do you have any wired devices? Do those get online? Yes, as I mentioned in my original post, a few are connecting, and some via ethernet cable
Last, has the Ubee ever worked correctly? Could be a bad unit. This is what I am trying to find out....
Thanks,

If the wireless devices are staying connected to the correct network name but showing a 169 Ip address they are failing to pass information once they log in as it is a self assigned address from the device itself the Ubee should give a 192.168._._ type address if its connecting to your home network.
Do the devices that stay connected more often stay closer to the Ubee Gateway that you can tell?

Hi and Happy new year!
I see 192.168 and none with 169
The router is located in a upper floor bedroom and central within the home, the connected desktop all in one is in the kitchen downstairs and not far at all. The apple TV box is located in a bedroom on the lower floor, this will typically get moved to the TV room below the router the connection is regained once powered up. The WiFi enabled TV is also located here and was once connected, but will not now reconnect.
I have tried reconnecting the iPad and the Toshiba LT on the same floor as the router and in the same room, still no connection. Wondering if I should just restrict to mac addresses of the devices
Thanks, John.

I'm thinking at this point there may be value in trying to swap the device out. If you're willing to give that a try you can bring it to one of our solutions stores for exchange.

@ChrisL
I will do just that, do I need to open a ticket to do this?
Many thanks, John.

Nothing like that will be necessary. You can simply tell the representative you're having problems and would like to swap the equipment.

Swapped out the unit for a Netgear one and problem solved. We can connect the Wifi devices easily.
Thanks,
