Don't know what happened, but we have lost all SSL sockets across our whole network. Cannot even log in to yahoo fantasy or ebay! We have 3 computers with XP, Vista and 7 and NONE of them can log into anything! I tried reseting the modem and the router. Still nothing different. I checked all settings for SSL in all 3 computers. Nothing different. I even went as far as doing system restores to the computers, still nothing.
I am really thinking this is not my computers and something has happened between my network and cox....why would all 3 different operating systems just stop working? It's just not logical. Is it possible something in the cox signal is messed up and my path is not secure?
I have not done anything with the "New 1GB" Service, updates, or new modem. Still using my Motorola...connection is fine, speed is fine, can internet anywhere, just cannot LOG IN anywhere, cannot BUY anything...
When I click log in or checkout, the next page just says The page cannot be displayed check your internet connection, but the site's are not able to switch to HTTPS...anything http works fine...
Has anyone had this problem? Any thoughts of a fix?

My guess is you have port 443 either forwarded or blocked somehow at your firewall or router. What kind of router/gateway do you have?
It wouldn't a Cox issue, unless that port is closed for your entire area, which would cause a huge outage. One way to check is to connect your PC direct to the modem and see if that works.

From what I've been able to ascertain ... MS is disabling the SSL protocol.
I followed their tech bulletin" https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/security/3009008.aspx
Didn't seem to make a difference. And, even if it did, it won't get you connected to any site that doesn't have
TLS protocol set up.
Everyone is having a problem .... I'm looking for a solution like you.

I was able to get into a much needed site by putting Kaspersky on Pause.
Another website host service told me they had upgraded all their SSL and have no problems.
EarthLink, my email host, says they use POP instead of SSL and have no problems.

I wonder if this has anything to do with OpenSSL vulnerabilities and maybe your Antivirus (Kersp) is blocking it. Thats probably why one of the websites upgraded to a non vulnerabile type of SSL. Port 443 is HTTPS which uses a kind of SSL as part of HTTP. Earthlink's email, and SSL on POP3 in general, aren't affected

Firewall's filter traffic usually by port number for starters so it makes sense pausing the firewall worked. I'd say you should be able to either reset the firewall to defaults or look to see if a rule has been setup inadvertently to block SSL (443).
