In the last few weeks my caller ID on my tv has quit working. I just had a tech here to do some work and he told me that Cox had turned it off. Why? I haven't changed anything and I have had it for several years. I would call but my last call I was on hold for 58 minutes.

I'd check first to see if it got turned off at the box somehow. Here's an article with more information on how to check that:

Hi Scuba Todd,
How's everything going? Did the link help? If not, please let me know. I want your service to work just as I expect mine to work when I get home.

I had a tech out and he had Cox turn it back on. No explanation as to why it was turned off.

I would like my service to work while I am at home. Cox, turn on my TV Caller ID. It's been off for 18 months and I've reset, rebooted and fiddled with its two setting many times.

Reviewing the situation, it seems there was a provisioning error that needed to be corrected. This can be caused by any changes in your phone service or if your modem was replaced. Unless you remember exactly when it stopped working, it would be difficult to konw exactly what happened. I apologize for any inconvenience not having the service caused.

Hi Bruce,
If we need to turn on your TV Caller ID service, I will need to pull the account to get this resolved. Please email me at coxhelp@cox.com.

Dustin at Cox Chesapeake fixed it. After we rebooted my cable box, disabled/enabled my TV Caller ID and unplugged power for 2 minutes; he recycled my occurrence. Huh? That's jargon to me but a setting on the Cox equipment. He removed my "occurrence and then reestablished it" to finally fix my Caller ID on TV. After 18 months!
He's a steely-eyed missile man!

I too had a issue with my Dad's TV caller ID. I went over there, made sure it was enabled, tried a soft and hard boot. I called in and they tried the same, and one where they send the signal from Cox. Still didn't work so they put a ticket in with their telephone test desk, and they fixed it a few days later. They said it was something that was wrong in the telephone "switch" that gets assigned to your cable box like your internet service gets assigned to your internet modem.

Hi Remote Issues,
Have you tried to reset your box? You can try resetting the box by unplugging it for about 2 minutes and then plug it back in. Once the box is plugged back in you want to give it a few minutes to reload. When you've noticed the guide information has reloaded, try and access the settings. After doing so, is it still just searching when you go into your settings? Let us know if the resetting of the box help.
