CableCARD channel encryption status for Topeka market, Copy freely?
Just signed up for advanced TV but before I make the jump to buying an HD Homerun prime, I was hoping someone could give the list of channels and their status for Topeka?

Cox most likely will not answer your question,
If you have an HD Cable receiver from Cox, you should be able to tell in the Diagnostic Menus,
CCI - 0x00 is Copy Freely
CCI - 0x02 is Copy Once (cannot be transferred or moved from the original device, but can be Streamed to an Extender)
Most Cox markets are Copy Once except locals, The only two Cox markets I know that are Copy Freely (except Premiums) are Cox Orange County CA. and Cox New England.

You are correct sir! I talked to at least 4 different people who have no idea what the settings are for this market :(
I'm just going to bite at the $99 HD HomeRun Prime on WOOT today and see what's what...
Although I was tempted to go to the store and try it out on their HD demo receivers there :)
I have a standard HD Homerun for QAM channels, would a scan of the encrypted ones show me any info there?

Are you sure about New England? Im in RI and last time I checked (which was about a year ago) they were 0x02. I don't have cable anymore with Cox to check now though.
I agree with using the box diagnostic though. Seems the most direct route to the answer.

You're going to love Cox Advanced TV!
If you do purchase an HDHomeRun Prime, we will need to set you up with a cable card and tuning adapter so all your channels program correctly. Give us a call at 888-952-3278 when you're ready to schedule an installation appointment!
The following link should take you to the current channel lineup for the Topeka, KA area. Please let me know if you have further questions or if you have difficulty opening the link

I have been considering buying an HD homerunprime to stream my cox cable to a couple of PC's. However I'm running into a lot of confusing information regarding the effect of the "copy once" flag that Cox places on all non over the air channels
Xmbc works as a watching portal for the homerunprime. However I've read several posts on various boards indicating that you must use Windows Media Center in Windows 7 or above to view ( not record) any Cox channel (other than the few unflagged OTA channels) streamed by the homerunprime
Both my PC's are running windows XP The Homerunprime won't be much of an investment if I also have to buy copies of windows 7 for every PC, not to mention the inconvenience of a total reload. Is this correct? does the "copy once" flag stop you from watching TV streamed from an homerunprime on a non- Windows 7 machine?

I think what your looking for can only be obtained by a engineer, and like Bryan said, they don't like to give that info out. Mostly because it can and does change sometimes and I think Cox wants to give priority to their content providers and not their customers. Or atleast thats what it seems like to me.
Your best bet is just to use a box to find out yourself. Even if you were able to get a complete list, there are still possibilities of open channels they forgot to lock in the field.
