Cable modem continually resetting
I have a fairly new (1-2 years old) Motorola SB6141 cable modem. Over the past several months but occurring rather frequently, it completely shuts down and reboots. I've had Cox out to check the lines into the house and they claim all is good. I see that Cox is now recommending the SB6183. Have there been issues with this older version as opposed to the new model? I'm a Preferred user and am getting quite frustrated with the continual resets. FYI here are some of the error messages from the Modem log from today as well as earlier....Any help or feedback would be appreciated!!

I tried checking the modem from here however at this time the logs are blank. Beyond that all I'm seeing is some indications of a possible power problem. Do you have it connected to a surge strip of some kind with a lot of other devices? Would it be possible to try connecting the modem to a different power source?

Thanks, from here the logs are looking pretty good and I'm not seeing indications of the power issue that I was earlier. The only other thing that stands out as a possible performance issue at this point might be a router issue. I'm seeing indications from this end that the router might not be suitable for the speed of service you're subscribed to.

Power is a difficult issue to write a FAQ about, the symptoms aren't really unique enough to point to such a cause. I suspect in your case the power strip is loaded near capacity in terms of how much power it's rated for leaving devices to compete with each other to meet their power demands.
The main issue with the router is it only seems to have 10/100Mbps Ethernet ports which means the actual throughput is typically lower than that. You might benefit from testing your speeds with a gigabit Ethernet enabled PC directly to the modem. If you see your full speeds in that configuration you might benefit from upgrading the router.

It seems your router actually has enough processing power to get close to the limited of the Ethernet port speeds. This is actually not a very common thing I see. As close as your results are it's pretty much going to be up to you to determine if the cost to benefit ratio is there with regards to upgrading the router. One other thing to consider is you'll need to upgrade when the next speed increase rolls around being that the router you have now is right at the limit for your current speed.

Thanks, I looked again and I'm still seeing indications of much of the same stuff we addressed before. I'm thinking a tech will probably need to come out and troubleshoot a signal or equipment problem.
