Cable box not working..
My Advanced TV HD Receiver is not working. It was working fine and it just stopped working the next day. Out of nowhere. I have another box and I tried it here thinking it might be the outlet or something, and the other box worked, so the problem is definitely the box and not my tv, or the outlet, etc. It completely stopped working.
I have the DCT6412 HD / DVR receiver. I think...

It has worked the whole time I've had it, which is about 8 months. I have 2 boxes. One is still working perfectly, the other one is box I mentioned that is not working.

Might want to start with "how" its not working. Won't power on? Won't display a picture? If so, black screen? Snow? Etc

Yeah, it won't display a picture AT ALL. It powers on, and where the time/clock would be, there is just an H" or T", I believe. I can't check as I'm not at home right now, but it's really weird.

Sounds like maybe a firmware update was pushed that bricked it? Have you tried unplugging it, letting it sit for a couple minuets, and then powering it back up? If that doesn't work, someone from Cox might be able to send a "Cold boot" which will reset it entirely. If that doesn't work, probably time for a new DVR. On the bright side, new one will probably have bigger HD. The 6412 is only 120GB, newer ones are 500GB.

If you have a splitter on the coax line going to that box, please temporarily bypass and then powercycle the box for 2-3 minutes. If that does not resolve, please send an email to cox.help@cox.com with your full name, address, and the link to this thread.
Thank you,
