Backup power for phone service

I am thinking about using the Cox digital telephone service. However, the backup battery is good for only 8 hours of standby time. With multi-day power outages not uncommon in my neighborhood, this just isn't good enough. Are there any other viable solutions? I would be looking for at least 2 days of standby time.
