Arris/Motorola SB6121 or SB6141?
A retired neighbor of mine has Cox Preferred and wants to upgrade her DOCSIS 2.0 modem to a DOCSIS 3.0. The Arris SB6121 is DOCSIS 3.0, but can only bond 4 downstream channels to a total of about 160Mbps, while the Arris SB6141 is also DOCSIS 3.0, but can bond 8 channels downstream to a total of about 320Mbps. What she likes about the SB6121 is that it is about $20 cheaper than the SB6141 and comes in black. What she likes about the SB6141 is it's higher total throughput capability (8 X 40Mbps) for the future. She doesn't use a lot of bandwidth intensive apps, but for Mother's Day she got something like Amazon Fire TV that connects to the television and enables her to watch movies online.
Thoughts, please. Thank you.

The SB6141 will future-proof it a little. Also what router does she have? With an old DOCSIS 2 modem maybe there is a "g" router connected to it. If that is so, I would upgrade it to at least an "n" router of not an "ac" gigabit router.

The speeds of her service would be able to handle the streaming for the apps that she will be using. Of course with the modem that has the higher channels will provide slightly faster speeds, but I am not sure that you would be able to tell the difference if she is just streaming movies.
