I AGREE! To Cox (if any employees monitor these boards):
Cox, I respectfully request a FEE DECREASE!! Technology continually gets cheaper and yet here we are being asked to pay MORE! I request a 25% fee decrease to be implemented over the next 6 months. There ARE other services, such as internet tethering to my cellphone service for internet, and online television content services. You WILL price yourselves out ot the market. Considering the fact that a person can now buy a decent used car or motorcycle for the same cost as continuing your BASIC services just means that you are obviously charging too much.

Two years ago this coming July, Cox called and asked if we wanted to participate in a price freeze on our account. The agreement was basically we would not change our current bundle over the next two years (drop any channels, phone, or internet) and we would experience any increases over the next two years.
While we've grumbled about it from time to time, looking at Netflix vs On-Demand, we didn't think it would have saved us as much as it has, either!

I agree with you 100%, seems like all the services are out of control. I wonder what Cox will do if we all cancel our services at the same time and go back to basis or reading more, or creating more healthy habits because after all the tube don't help much.

wanna actually get some help in regards to rising bills?
Call and ask to speak to someone about cancelling your service!
Worked for us , i was literally setting up service with someone else for phone/internet. Husband was onthe phone, he was connected to someone in the cancellation department.... Our bill dropped by 10 bucks, no increase and we are locked in at that price for a year!

You probably overlooked it. This is what was printed on the first page of my February bill:
"Effective with your next bill statement on or after 3/01/12, some prices will change as the result of increases in operating
and programming costs. All service and equipment prices are
listed per month unless otherwise noted and are subject to
franchise fees, taxes and deposits. Please see additional details
in "News from Cox" section."
I detest Cox and their increasing frequency of rate hikes. It's always someone else's fault why they were "forced" to raise their rates. You know, like raking in more money is just oh-so-painful for them. I don't believe anything they say.
We are actually thinking about dropping all of our Cox services except for Internet, and going with OTA and streaming for a while. I'm not even interested in Dish. Let's face it, most of what's on TV is total garbage anyway, with commercials seeming to run on and on and on. I have zero interest anymore in watching our local sports teams, so I won't be missing anything there. I am just really fed up with paying exorbitant bills for this garbage. For $7.99 a month, we stream Netflix. That and OTA looks better and better to me now. And my wife is just as fed up as I am. We've never been closer to actually dropping these services. I think it's coming, sooner rather than later.

And therein lies the problem. People call up to cancel, Cox throws them a few crumbs (dropping the bill by a whopping $10, big deal), and customers cave in.
I'm glad you got a rate reduction, Ophelia, but with all due respect, Cox saved themselves a customer by offering you chump change.

If you go with the price increase; as I do; please do this: OPT OUT of Cox mandatory arbitration!! From 30 DAYS from rec. bill you can OPT OUT. Read cust.service agreement, section 20.7, follow directions or go to ArbitrationOptOut@cox.com.

Yup, another price increase. Next to the mortgage, COX is the biggest bill we have. That makes them a big target!
