2nd TV w/o cable box, but connected to internet. Is it possible to watch current programming on this TV(online)?

The TV in my living-room has a cable box, but TV upstairs does not.  The cable feed connected to the upstairs TV is from the same feed that connects to the cable box downstairs, as well as the cable modem.  I get about 80 channels upstairs without the use of a cable box(channel numbers are not consistent w/ what they are on the cable box, but that's no big deal).  I do get various NBC channels upstairs, but not NBCSN(which is the only one I really care about).

Cox offers the 'connect' services for ipads, as well as controlling my DVR online, and watch a plethora of other programs previously aired.  Watching a streaming hockey game on-line, from home, when both Cox TV and Internet services are being paid for(and have been for 10+ years) should be made available.  Or is this just COX's way of nickel & diming customers, by making them pay for another set-top box when it's not even necessary, from a technology standpoint?  Allowing iPad users to connect to TV programming via the Internet, but not allowing customers to do so with a physical dedicated line gives me the impression that COX is receiving some type of kickback from Apple, or being subsidized by them in some way!  Something seems shady in Shadyville!

you need another box.  no other cable company nor current equipment does what you want.

Hi DrunknRuckus,

If I understand you correctly, you want to be able to watch the NBC Sports channel either online or on your iPad. Is that correct?

Currently, NBC Sports is not part of the iPad Cox TV Connect channel lineup. We are constantly adding new services and features to the Cox TV Connect app, and we will be adding more channels to the lineup as we move forward in 2012. I do not know, however, if NBC Sports will be one of the channels added.

Cox is required to pay millions to TV Networks like ESPN, CNN, Fox, Disney, etc, in order to carry their content. There are added fees for any content networks allow us to offer through On Demand and through Cox TV Connect. So while we are always looking for ways to expand the video content we offer, we also have to balance this with cost

The other big limitation to what Cox can offer through Cox TV Connect and Cox TV Online is that all network content is copyrighted. Broadcast rights govern the distribution of copyrighted content & thus limit what we can offer in OnDemand, Cox TV Connect and Cox TV Online.

I assure you that Cox is not receiving any money from Apple. A Cox TV Connect app for Android devices is currently being tested.

The other point that I wanted to make is that NBC Sports very often has live content viewable online at nbcsports.com.  I watched the Kentucky Derby live on my PC!
