So had to get rid of one box (contour 1 box) and tech ended up replacing both our boxes. Now have 2 countour 2 boxes. The annoying thing is my wifes stuff on mine and mine on hers. So lets say we both have 15 saved shows. Its super annoying to scroll ALL shows - On my tv I just want to see my stuff. There must be a work around as this is the stupidest software design. Thank god we dont have 4 tv’s!! The tech did put a filter on mine, but does not help.
Since we have only 2 boxes in the house and both are host boxes, every thing should be separate. What “lives” on box 1 should stay only on box 1. And same for box 2 - whats on box 2 should only be on box 2.
Will there be an update that fixes this? Really is annoying to see other family members stuff on my box.
I complained about this months ago. Originally my wife and I had two separate independent Motorola DVRs from Cox. Her favorites and her shows were on her DVR, and mine were on mine. After having some kind of hardware issues with the Motorola DVR, Cox replaced the failing one with a new Contour box. Long story short, they ultimately replaced the other Motorola DVR with a new Contour 2 box. but it wouldn't work unless they were "networked". Now we have two Contour 2 DVRs.The SOLUTION is to have multiple/individual Profiles on Contour 2 for a home so that your favorites are yours, mine are mine etc, even if on same or separate DVRs. Look at Roku or Netflix app. You logon to your profile and it shows movies that are appropriate and tailored to you, and different ones for your children.Cox, you can do this. Even the older Motorola DVRs were independent!
Thanks KevenM2. I think if you search this forum for the word "profiles" you'll find others with similar comments. Families with multiple TV watchers need to have option to keep their own profile and settings (and restrictions for children). I realize that Cox probably bought the Contour 2 DVRs and software from another party, but please keep the pressure on to advance the capabilities of your product. Thanks.
Thanks and I mirror John2222 comments. And I am really curious what you mean by “optimal performance” the only performance upgrade with these new boxes is that a SSD replaced the harddrive. That in of itself should not affect profiles. I find myself spending more time getting the box to do what i want, sure maybe a few extra seconds or extra buttons but it adds to the overall frustrating experience.
The remote needs its own favorite button and its own dvr list button.
when i enter the channel number (and with this new box we have to press the ok button) it does not go to my channel unless the guide is set to all channels. Of course everytime I press the guide button the guide feature moves to the right (say, all channels to hd only and so on)
