Every time there is an EAS, the channel changes on it's own to C-SPAN. Its stuck on that channel for about 30 seconds then changes back to what I was watching on it's own. No Alert Message is ever played.
I wouldn't even know its supposed to be an alert if it wasn't for the cable box saying EAS on the front of it.
Surely something is messed up?
I don't know the technical discrepancy for this event but whenever additional information is piggybacked on a channel's frequency, set-top boxes seem to default to C-SPAN. It happened to me when my power-on channel switched from my preference to the SD version of C-SPAN on channel 41. To solve it, a moderator sent a re-initialization signal to my box.
A moderator can do that for you or you can call Phone Support.
What channel is C-SPAN? Think it has something to do with channel mapping and switch digital video(SDV). Since almost no one watches C-SPAN(#AMURICA!), they probably put it in the channel space that the EAS system uses.
BTW, anyone know if the online box reset tool still works? If so, does it work with all types of boxes? Last, do you use this link, or use the button on the new Cox.com page?
Although it's not a lot, there are a few C-Spanners out there. If you type C-SPAN or CSPAN in Search, quite a few discussions result. But you're correct, it's probably in the junk drawer of frequencies.
I haven't used the reset tool(s) in a while...goodness!...but since the madeover Cox, everything is right off cox.com. You don't even need to log in...it's all right there (services, serial numbers, address). I think the info is mapped to the MAC of my modem. My Firefox is set to delete cookies when closed and I CCLean every night, but, still, the next morning, all my info is on cox.com without a logon. I can't check email, post or reset...I still need to login...but I guess I'm saying all reset tools are at cox.com. Delete those bookmarks.Anyway, those tools only allow us to reset. Cox has other types of troubleshooting signals, such as to re-initialize our equipment or to recycle our occurrences. After I reset my box online, only the re-initialize signal fixed my defaulting C-SPAN problem. I did, however, feel moor smartery being forced to watch C-SPAN.
