Just curious if anybody knows how to track exactly where the packet loss is once you run smokeping
Well going of that faq I have some major issues
I think some more data would help give the smokeping data context. Try running a tracert to any server or IP outside your network, like google.com. Then look at the 2nd hop, right after your router IP. Should be something like 10.x.x.x. Then ping -t that IP as you do the smokeping tests. This will show if there is any local latency to your CMTS.
If those tests are good, then the questions is which routes are bad for you. Knowing which servers the smokeping test uses would allow you to run a tracert to them to show where the latency is occurring. I know the infamous server right now are Amazon's for games like Fortnite.
I posted a response but it disappeared. Thanks for the help, I ran pathping to google on saturday just havent had time to do more.
Is that 4% packet loss on the first hop? If so, that is somewhere in your network. Was that test done on a wired connection or Wifi?
