I have a new Windows 10 computer and I can't set up my Cox email. I have scoured the Internet and forums and tried a variety of advanced settings: pop.east.cox.net and smtp.east.cox.net pop.cox.net and SMTP. Cox.net pop.cox.net.587 and SMTP.cox.net.465 pop.cox.com and SMTP.cox.com imap.cox.net and SMTP.cox.net imap.cox.net.587 and SMTP.cox.net.465 Sometimes I can get my emails but no scenario allows me to send email. I'm using a TWC wifi signal. I've turned off and on McAfee. I checked and unchecked all the boxes regarding SSL. Nothing seems to make the difference. I can use webmail, but it is horribly inconvenient. I have been having the same sending email problem on my old laptop. When I bring it home it all works fine using my Cox wifi. This is untenable. Is is there a setting fix to this problem?

The important part that your probably missing is you also have to set "outgoing server to use authentication" as seen in this picture.

I also cannot send using the Window 10 email app. I receive fine. I have used exactly the recommended settings. This problem has not been fixed by either Microsoft or Cox, although it has been reported on both Microsoft and Cox forums for many months. I still wait for a solution other the giving up and using a third party app.

Have either of you tried Thunderbird or some non MS email program?

+1 for T-bird but .... the outgoing e-mail problem in Windows 10 mail was fixed a few months ago. The latest version works as it should both incoming and outgoing. Yes, it was a MS issue when Windows 10 was first released but has been fixed since. Check my response to this thread.

I appreciate that people are trying to be helpful, but I have to kindly point out that the information provided in this thread (marked "Cox Approved") does not fix the problem. One message refers to another thread from October and the information in that thread also did not fix the problem even when I follow the instructions EXACTLY. This problem has been reported on both Microsoft and Cox forums for many months. It continues to be reported and it has not been fixed. I have a brand new computer with Windows 10 Pro with all apps updated in the Windows store. I entered the Cox information exactly as recommended first on the Cox website and in the messages in this thread. The Windows 10 email app downloads my IMAP messages fine, but it will not send messages. I had the same problem with an upgraded Windows 10 (from Windows 7) on a different computer a couple of months ago. The temporary fix was for me to download the Windows Live 2012 email client and use it. It worked. But it seems extremely stupid that the combined technical knowledge of Microsoft and Cox (if there is any) cannot fix this problem, so the Windows 10 email app can be used by Cox customers. So I would appreciate any additional help people could provide as long as it is not just to again enter the settings that I have already tried many times - which don't work.

You probably want to make a new thread for your issue. OP is sending from off Cox's network, which is a separate issue from compatibility issue with a email app.

Hi Dean,

Since there was a problem with outgoing email when Windows 10 first launched, the best thing to do now may be to start from scratch. First, make sure your PC is up-to-date with Windows updates. Then, delete the email profile you initially created and start over. From scratch. Use the settings that Tecknowhelp provided at the top of this thread. Please let us know the result!

I have tried every combination suggested and still cannot send email from my cox account. I can certainly use webmail on cox.net with no problem. Additionally, I have email accounts with Hotmail and yahoo that send and receive with no problems.

T.J., have you followed Becky's suggestions?

1. Delete any Cox accounts from Windows 10 mail that are not working.

2. Make sure you have all updates, both to Win 10 and specifically the mail app.

3. Recreate your Cox E-mail account following the instructions I linked to above.

I have 2 Cox E-mail accounts, a POP3 & an IMAP, working without issue. Both receive & send without error.
