CABLE HAUNT

Is this real? Should we be concerned? Is there anything users can/should do regarding this or is this an ISP issue?

  • @bobC927 Cox is aware of the vulnerability that may impact some cable modems called Cable Haunt, and the security of Cox services is always our top priority. At this time, your best defense for this and other threats is to use strong complex passphrases for passwords (including WiFi passwords) and make sure you're changing them on a periodic basis. Here are some additional steps you can take:

    - Avoid using the same password for multiple websites or services.
    - Keep your software updated by regularly applying vendor recommended patches and updates.
    - Ensure you are using updated anti-virus and anti-malware software
    - Avoid untrusted and unfamiliar websites or links.

Cox is already working with various modem companies regarding this issue. Cox Panoramic Wifi Gateways are not at risk. -Allan, Cox Support Forums Moderator.
