How to Use Cox e-mail Transitioned to Yahoo via Outlook ...
Just learned the details on how to do this - the instructions in e-mails we are getting are insufficient. Setting up yahoo account via link will only get you to the browser-based e-mail platform. This is required as the first step. Once this step is done, use these setting to set up Yahoo server in Outlook: POP access settings and instructions for Yahoo Mail | Yahoo Help - SLN4724 Old passwords will work using web-based Yahoo platform, but they will not work using outlook! New password is required to link Yahoo platform with Outlook - this is done this way: Open Yahoo page, and under Top Right-side point to You name letter next to e-mail icon and select Account - Overview Select Security - top 3rd from the left side. In the middle on the right side select: Generate and manage app passwords. Under App name enter Outlook. Yahoo will generate loooong password - Copy save it, as this will be the only time you will see it!! Paste this new password to Server Settings inside Outlook. This will link the outlook with Yahoo ... I hope this helps - it took me one hour with designated Yahoo help for Cox transition - 1-866-562-7250 Thyer are very knowledgeable and patient!8Views0likes0CommentsWARNING: Yahoo hides spam from third-party email apps
Yahoo Email filters out their idea of spam into a Yahoo spam folder and never makes it visible to third-party email apps such as Mac Mail or Thunderbird. I found this out the hard way when several critical emails did not arrive as expected, only to find them later in Yahoo's spam folder via their webmail interface. There is no way I've found to turn this off. You can supposedly train their spam filter by marking individual emails as "not spam", but this means you still have to login constantly to Yahoo and check the spam folder for legitimate email.30Views0likes0CommentsMy Post Yahoo Transition Results
I have 3 Cox email addresses. Prior to the transition, I used Outlook 2022/O365 to access 1 email address and another email client called "eM Client" to access the 2nd email address. I never used Cox' webmail portal to access, send and receive my emails. I only worked on 2 of the 3 accounts last night after getting an email from both cox and yahoo saying it was time to change. I clicked the link in the received email which took me to yahoo's web email site/login. I used my cox email and existing cox password. It logged me in and then asked me to make a new password immediately without first seeing the Inbox. The new password was accepted and moved forward logging me in. Then it asked me a few "do you want personalize your environment" questions which I skipped. Then I was at my Inbox Upon first entry into the new Inbox via Yahoo, all of my emails were there. Also present were my pre-existing folders that I had created under cox' control and the emails that had been in those folders just prior to the transition. What was missing were all of my "rules" and filters. So even though my folders were there, I was going to have to redo my rules in Yahoo. Your filter rules do not migrate over. I spent time in the yahoo web portal and it seemed fine for what it was. It has a good bulk email filter built in and marking email as spam is simple and effective. Better than my experience with Cox. However I was quickly turned off by the fact that I was going to have to build out all of my rules again - I probably had over 100. Yahoo has a rules/filter maximum of 500. HERE IS WHERE IT ALL WENT WRONG. I went back into Outlook where Email Account #2 lives. All of the emails and folders were still there but the account settings had Cox' SMTP/IMAP configs. I was curious if I could still use Outlook and not Yahoo's portal. I went into the email settings and moved them over to Yahoo's. I made sure to give it the new password and used port 465 with all of the boxes checked. It connected without issue and started to sync. Then at the end of the sync ALL OF MY CUSTOM FOLDERS WERE GONE. Not only the folders, but any emails that were in those folders were gone too. The only emails left were those that happen to be sitting in the "Inbox" main directory but not anything that was in a subfolder under InBox. Even more interesting is the fact that all of my Rules/Filters in Outlook are still present. So as it downloads more email, I get Outlook errors regarding the fact that there is no longer a folder to move an email too that matches the rule it finds. So your rules in Outlook remain but after syncing the folders disappear, even though they had made the initial migration when you opened your InBox in Yahoo. GOOD NEWS THOUGH..... After crying at Oulook that no longer had my folders and emails, I logged back into Yahoo via the webportal. EVERYTHING IS THERE! My custom folders, the emails in them, everything. So it looks like for those of you in a similar spot, in Outlook after the sync, you will need to recreate your customer folders using the exact spelling and capitalization that you had before so that the filter rules can apply correctly. It is going to take a chunk of your day per email address to bring yourself back to a functional state. Everything I did was at a desktop computer with multiple monitors and space to manipulate lots of windows. Do not do this on a cell phone or tablet. I do not have any insight on the Yahoo app and have no plans to use that. Thunderbird and other email clients may produce a different result and experience for some of you. Best Wishes to you all during this transition time.36Views1like0CommentsOutgoing VM Message Garbled or Cut Off at the Beginning
I have a rather strange problem with my cox voicemail. Intermittently, my greeting is garbled or cut off at the beginning of the script. This happens whether I record a personal greeting or use the default with only first and last name. I have replaced the modem (PW6), checked and re-checked the connections, and rebooted and reset the modem multiple times, all to no avail. I can make and receive calls with no problem, but when I or anyone else calls the number and waits for the voicemail to pick up, the problem occurs about half the time. I have voicemail set to pick up after 4 rings, and have noticed that sometimes one or more of the rings are shorter or longer than usual. I have tried setting voicemail pickup for fewer or more rings, but the problem persists independently of that setting. Does anyone have a clue what could be going on? I have talked to support, and they have suggested it could be a line issue and I might need to have a tech come out. Just thought I would check in here before to see if anyone else has ever had this problem before I go any further. Thanks19Views0likes0CommentsConnecting email to Yahoo mess
Just spent 1 hour and 18 minutes on the phone with Yahoo trying to get my cox.net email I have not received for 2 days. In my case I already had a Yahoo email account. The tech showed me how to add the cox email to Yahoo. But on the positive side I am sure we will get a discount on our bills now with Cox since they don't provide email anymore. Time to look at other internet service providers.26Views0likes0CommentsCrappy Service
Never ever ever get Cox crappy crappy service and let's not discuss service they act as if all of them ate lead as children if you didn't get it slow no resolution skills or communication skills. They try and make you think that you're slow or your comprehension skills don't exist.28Views1like0CommentsCox and AppleTV app
Last night 4/13 I was unable to sign in to my Apple TV app. After speaking with Apple and the tier 2 tech support at Cox I was told they are indeed aware of the problem and they're working on a fix. Apparently they've had this problem before. Clearing your data will not fix the current problem. Until the fix if you want to watch Apple you will need to use the remote that came with your TV.35Views0likes0Comments- 27Views0likes0Comments
