Multiple connection timeouts happening every few minutes
I have been having multiple connection timeouts while using my service, usually happening every 5 minutes. I can't enjoy my online gaming for more than that time without being disconnected from the servers. I have tried everything from unplugging the modem for a few minutes then plugging it back in, having the modem's power go directly into the power outlet, replacing the rental modem that I was using with a newer and faster one, being directly hardwired into the modem and not using the router, changing DNS servers, and flushing the DNS. Cox even sent a "technician", though he was only contracted, to my home to check my wires. He said everything looked fine. Yet the problem persists. This problem has been going on for more than year now and I'm extremely frustrated and just lost on what else to do. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.Solved2.5KViews0likes5CommentsPoor Connection Quality at Night
I stream games on Twitch.Tv and have been in this apartment for over a year now. I have experienced the usual disconnects due to maintenance, a rogue storm, etc. Starting November 11th, however, every night around 6:00 PM -8:00 PM CST, my connectivity to Twitch takes a dive. Download seems consistent, but Uploads are choppy and drop anywhere from 25 - 80% frames. Initially, I thought this was an OBS encoding/settings issue so I spent the weekend troubleshooting and changing settings with no success. I began checking my hardware for driver updates, put additional memory into my computer, etc. I tried to fix ever issue I could find before moving onto the next step, my internet connection. Using the Twitch Broadband Tester, I got the following results: Prior to November 11th, I saw some minor dropped frames, but even at its worse, the connection never went with more than 10% dropped frames. I usually connect to the Dallas hub, but have tried Chicago and San Fransisco with no improvements. I troubleshot the Twitch connection via their website and staff and everything I keep turning up points to an issue with the ISP Cox. I've run multiple speed tests, (speedtest.net, cox speed test, testmy.net) and the only one that consistently shows a "good connection" is Cox's. I don't know if I can rely on it, because I am sure that my connection to Cox is good (4 techs visiting have confirmed it), but my connection to Twitch.Tv at night drops significantly. (Also experience slower internet over all at night, but Cox's speed test again shows everything's OK.) I've had my modem replaced (a newer Arris modem), had Ingress checked multiple times (all during the morning because us night shifters get NO love from Cox or their technicians). Performed multiple DNS flushes, Modem Resets, Changed the Cables from computer to modem, changed the splitter cable from the TV and Modem, BYPASSED the splitter cable from the TV and modem, updated the modem firmware and have called into tech support so much I have memorized a good chunk of their call center staff. After being told all is good and it was Twitch's fault, I switched over to Youtube Gaming and experienced the exact same problem. A supervisor was sent out during the daytime on 11/7 to test the lines again and found no issues, but sure enough, 6 PM rolls around and my internet tanks. He believes there may be noise intermittent noise in the line during that time frame, but no techs are available to troubleshoot at that time. Called the call center again tonight after experiencing bad connectivity and was told everything is alright. Checked the forums and found that there have been other people experiencing the same/similar issues in other parts of Cox's networks. I need to know what is going on. Please let me know what information you need, will provide it. TL;DR - Cannot stream to Twitch.Tv, Youtube Gaming or Hitbox because of poor connection quality. Send help.2KViews0likes2Commentswebmail

During the week of 15 to 22 April, I got complete outages that begin somewhere between 11:00 and 11:30PM EST - always during this window. These outages can be intermittent or complete disconnects from one hour to several hours. Cox technical support claims that are no known outages in my area. I could explain everything I've done on my end (e.g., direct connect, new modem, tests, etc.), but the problem is definitely with Cox. Whatever maintenance or upgrades they are doing, they are not telling the Tech Support personnel at their tech support call center. So frustrating when they insinuate it's your (our / my) end and the time this occurs is always the same, which clearly points to Cox doing something. I've spent hours checking, grooming, replacing my whole network. So at this point I feel insulted. They suggested a tech visit, so I said OK just to prove it's not my end. Their window; 8:00 to 10:00am. I got a call at 9:45am saying the tech was running late and should be there before 10:30am. At 10:45am I called Cox to cancel. They said they're sending another tech who should be here any moment. I still said I was canceling. At 10:50am, a tech showed up. I politely explained that I cancelled the appointment, and all I wanted anyway was to prove it wasn't my end. Additionally, there could be a charge for the visit. For a support visit that they picked the time for, with a tech showing up 50 minutes past their 2-hour window, and that they would possibly charge me for this visit, I feel insulted a second time.1.7KViews0likes2CommentsKeep getting DC'd from Internet multiple times an hour! Tired of the run-around!!!!
This is my last ditch effort before I find a new ISP to deliver the product I am paying for. I recently got an install at my new condo and my speeds are reading over 40 DL and 10 UP. I am running an AC1900 C6300 Netgear modem/router from Cox and the cables are all new. Devices are plugged in via new cat5e LAN as well directly to the Netgear. HOWEVER, for some reason, I will be gaming or on my phone and I will be COMPLETELY DISCONNECTED FROM THE INTERNET FOR 30SECONDS TO 1 MINUTE. The modem doesn't reset and my devices still show full signal supposedly coming through. This happens anywhere between 1 to 5 times an hour, no matter what time of day. I have called cox multiple times on this issue and they keep saying there is no problem on their end. They even had the audacity to tell me to call Netgear, who was basically 0 help whatsoever. On top of that, the man from Cox tech support was very condescending and told me that it was Netgears problem and not his. I want an answer to this yesterday, I am currently paying 65 dollars for a product that doesn't even work; *** even my century link internet didnt have this problem, and they are the worst. I have attempted static IPs, port forwarded, DNS changes, static channel assigning, uPnp, and NOTHING SEEMS TO WORK. Has anyone found a solid fix for this yet? I am set to play in MLG prelim matches shortly and this will not be okay.1.6KViews0likes1CommentConsistent Wireless Internet Drops
Internet consistently drops from a stable position to 0 US/DS for about 1-2 seconds. Making it impossible to use anything that requires a stable connection. Not using Ethernet since modem is in an almost impossible to reach spot from last technician that came in. Upgrading to Dual Band modem is what made the problem occur. Problem began about 4 weeks ago, factory reset on PC didn't solve the issue, not correlated to High Disk Usage (mine stays at around 4%) and it is not a location issue, as the internet worked fine pre-dual band. http://imgur.com/i9EAgcF1.5KViews0likes1CommentConstant Speed drops last 2 weeks
I am hoping I can find an answer here to the issues we are having with my Cox Premier service. For about the last 2 weeks our internet speeds have been dropping drastically. It will start up relatively high, 25 Mbps or so and then slow down all the way to 3,4, or 5 Mb. I have run multiple speed tests on different sites to confirm. I had a tech come out yesterday who claimed it was my router. He would connect the modem directly to the PC and I would jump back up to 190-200 Mbps. As soon as we hooked it back up to the router, it would drop again to 15-20 Mbps sometimes into the single digits. I took his advice and purchased a Netgear N600 dual band router, hooked everything up last night and bam, same issue. I have reset the modem multiple times, tried hooking it again into the computer and I am still getting the pull down even without the router. I am at a loss at to what I need to do next. I should also mention that I the router had two Xbox's hooked up with direct wired connections and one Pc and the speed is a constant across all devices. I do not really use our wifi for anything other than our two phones.1.5KViews0likes1CommentNo internet
