Contour 1
Had a problem with Contour 1 today. Local monthly "Emergency Action" message pre-empted all TV programs. Upon completion, box would not release the "EAS" display. Unplugged/replugged box (master). Gave "no signal for this channel" indication. Tried several more with same result. Had automated signal sent to box boxes. A single channel then came on: unable to change or call up guide. Turned TV on/off and restored on both boxes. BUT....volume on master box (mini was fine) was reduced by about 4-6 levels. Recording which was on 15 had to be upped to 20/22. Broadcast show volume from 12-17/18. Called support but no luck after sending another signal to master only. Tried moving "SAP" off/on/off: no joy. Have tech coming tomorrow with new box. But why would all the foregoing actions cause volume to significantly decrease on master? No actually TV settings changed: checked with remote provided with TV. Strangely, volume on mini remains fine (support said that is usually the one affected) although it too experienced same problems as master after the "EAS" break.1.2KViews0likes1CommentContour Mini Box
Had major problems last week which resulted from Contour 1 box having multiple faulty tuners. Thanks, Stephanie, for the diagnosis. Had a tech come out and replace both boxes as well as installing a filter on the lines running into our condo unit. Everything was working fine; until today. On the mini box: Have a specific channel (22) designated as "power on" channel. Tried switching from that to another (47): channel was blank, then automatically switched BACK to the power on channel. I was able to go to another channel (20) fine. Went to switch to a completely different channel (8) : it went blank than BACK to my previous channel (20). Some channels worked, some did not. Unplugged/replugged box and all is well: for now. Any idea why this may have happened? Some channels were affected which others were not. But why would it do this in the first place? Hopefully, not another bad mini!1.2KViews0likes0CommentsContour Missed Recordings
I've had several problems within the past few days regarding my Contour 1 boxes. So far, they've been resolved. Now I have a new one and from what I've seen, it may be continual. I have four shows scheduled to record off the same channel back to back. I checked after two had been recorded: those two show appear BOTH as "Recorded Shows" AND "Missed Recordings"!! I played back a few minutes from both shows and they appear to be fine. WHY would they then appear under "Missed Recordings". The explanation was that they did not appear in the Guide, which they most certainly did. A show last night went under "Missed Recordings" because Contour could not "tune" into the recorded channel yet it "tuned" into the same channel one hour later. Is there a system-wide problem with Contour 1 which has not yet been resolved? Too many recordings have been "missed" with varying explanations which seem to be Contour system related: not on the Guide, could not tune into the channel, etc.1.5KViews0likes1CommentContour 1 Missed Recordings
First question: I have about 7-9 items listed under "DVR List" > "Missed Recordings" for various reasons: "Shows could not be found in Guide" and "Due to technical problems" being the most common. Any idea how to delete these Missed Recordings from being displayed? Highlighting an individual one and pressing Select does nothing; thought that might give me options. Neither does highlighting one of the missed recordings and pressing either the red "C" or green "D" buttons. I spoke to a Cox rep via phone today and she could not find a way to delete missed recordings. She send a signal thru both boxes which did not clear the problem. She did say that Contour 1 as a system is having some problems in various areas of the country. Second question: Tried recording a show which was in progress by highlighting it in Guide and pressing the red "Rec" button. The red ball appeared on the Guide but no red "recording" light was on the DVR. After the show ended, it went under "Missed Recording" as "Due to technical problems". Any idea why it would do this? Future recordings seem to come out mostly well but this show was the SECOND show today - recording an IN PROGRESS show - which went under "Missed Recording" as "Due to technical problems". Has Contour 1 been having problems with recording shows which are in progress by pressing the red "Rec" button? This happened after I had the phone call regarding question number 1 so i was not able to resolve this issue at that time. Shooting the signal thru for the first problem apparently did not prevent the second. Thanks!3.1KViews0likes3CommentsContour 1
I've had a few questions and problems withy relatively new Contour 1 cable boxes but have had them resolved. Now a new question: Yesterday - Friday - I had two shows scheduled to record via Series Manager. Both shows were on the same channel and back to back. A check earlier yesterday showed both shows were "double checked" by Series Manager as ready to record. However, only 1 show was recorded: the second of the two. The first was sent to Missed Recordings with the explanation that it - Contour I'd guess - had a problem tuning in to the desired channel. But it was the SAME channel that was successfully recorded the next hour. Any ideas? Thanks.1.5KViews0likes2CommentsContour 1 DVR
Made two posts today regarding recording shows in progress and removing Missed Recordings. I was able to record an in progress show by pushing the red "Rec" button while the show is in full picture - not from the Guide. But should I also be able to bring up the Program Guide, find that show in progress, highlight that show and then press the red "Rec" button? Tried that twice and it was sent to Missed Recordings "due to a technical error". Operator manual online seems to say I should be able to do that. Operator manual gives no instructions on how to delete Missed Recordings list. No need to keep those listings in the middle section after i've reviewed what/why was missed. How to delete them when I'm done?796Views0likes0CommentsContour 1 DVR
Just posted two questions regarding my Contour 1 DVR. Second question was about my having problems recording a show in progress. Just found out I was doing it incorrectly. DOOOH! I was highlighting it in Guide then pressing red "Rec" button. I would not take and was placed in "Missed Recordings" due to technical problem. Now I see that I should just have the show playing on the screen - not showing "Guide" - and press the red "Rec" button which gives me the recording options. I tried getting fancy and it did not work. My mistake! Still can't clear shows from the "Missed Recording" list though. Any thoughts?846Views0likes0CommentsContour Cable Box Freezing Constantly
My contour cable box is constantly freezing but only does so when I have the channel guide open or when I am browsing through On-Demand shows or movies. Additionally, if I have a show or movie playing, that show or movie will suddenly "crash"...it will freeze, the screen will go blank, and then the regular TV will come back on. Is there any fix for this that can be done from home without a technician? Do I need to purchase a different box? PLEASE HELP!!!25KViews1like6CommentsCIsco 4742HDC
I asked a questions earlier and apparently I gave to much info regarding the issue because it was replied to and then locked by Moderator, Michaelj. My 'TECHNICAL' question is, (I will underline it, since it was hard to spot in the original post).... Should the Contour service be supported on the Cisco 4742HDC? Since I am being billing for it and billing says that it is a technical issue I figured I would start on this forum before contacting support. I was under the impression this forum was to discuss the most common technical questions with the Cox Community, not just the Cox Moderators, at least that is what the forum home page suggested. Please, do not lock my question. I would like the opportunity to respond to replies if need be. I'd sincerely appreciate it!1.4KViews0likes1Comment
