But need to know if I can use the Wifi Router in a separate room from the modem without any ethernet cables? Thanks a lot Re: One laptop disconnects Wi-Fi on ALL devices I was not able to try ethernet, but it drops again without being connected to corporate VPN or remote desktop. After about two hours, the WiFi cuts out ALL devices with it. Still have not figured out how or why all other devices on the 5 GHz go out too. If this ends up being a bandwidth issue, is any bandwidth monitor app that is free and portable? Since I cannot install any program on this laptop.Let's say it works with ethernet, then what is the problem with WiFI? Re: One laptop disconnects Wi-Fi on ALL devices Oh I see, and do have an old repeater for the garage. Well, it happened again need a way to pinpoint that. I think is this laptop, it's connected to remote desktop and corporate VPN, not sure if still drops when only on WiFi though. I do have one USB NIC and mightget a few more, but the Arris TG2472 is a little far from the laptop will need a long cable. I will have to look and see if it supports gigabit speed, but hope that is not needed. Re: One laptop disconnects Wi-Fi on ALL devices It is Arris TG2472, not sure if 'Panoramic', but i'm not using any Cox WIFI pods What is a 'chock-point'? And do not know if this gateway will work with any pods Re: One laptop disconnects Wi-Fi on ALL devices Actually this laptop has wireless and cellular, but no NIC and I just checked it is definitely not configured to share its connection as a Hot Spot. Luckily, I have access to that section of Settings One laptop disconnects Wi-Fi on ALL devices I have Arris TG2472 gateway with both of the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz SSID's hidden. One laptop, from work, an HP EliteBook 1030 G4 Windows 1909 will randomly disconnect from 5 GHz WiFi and it takes down all devices that are connected to the 5 GHz SSID, including mobile phones too. First of all, how is it doing that, and why? I'm not administrator on this laptop, so my options are limited on what can be done to it. I cannot use the 2.4 GHz as it is congested with too much interference from other Wi-Fii networks. Some help would be great. Thanks a lot Re: Wall mount Arris Modem No I do not have any device mounted on the wall and having second thoughts about doing this. That's right, nothing is affixed to the wall that could aide in mounting something there. Exactly, that is just a pain and hassle to deal with especially the coax cable and still have all the other cords mentioned too. I was thinking this will give me better wireless reception, since I have a wifi IP camera which is outside high above the Arris TG2472. The modem is simply on a desk in my room. Yes that's doable, what do you mean by desktop accessory, and where to put that? My house is only one story so not possible to place it on a second floor, but will look for highest point I can find. I have a couple already, one for garage, and another looks like will have to setup for that wifi IP camera, this might be my only and best option. Yes and those articles mention placing the router in a higher spot, but short of the ceiling or wall, where else could that be? Re: Wall mount Arris Modem A floating shelf is a good idea actually. Where do the Velcro Strips go? And what kind of Velcro strips do you suggest? The thin ones that laptop chargers have or something more thicker than that? Not sure how long the coax cable from the ground is, but I'm assuming it will not reach close to the ceiling. Mounting a shelf will not really bother me that much, and I never had the chance to put the Ubee on a wall. Also, aren't Stud-Mounted cable ties for cables only, how do you use them to mount the Arris TG2472 itself onto the wall? Which type of company can I find that could help me do this? How much will they charge for this job? But I think will able to pull this off without any companies doing it. I likely need help though. Re: Wall mount Arris Modem Yes vent holes cover the entire left and right sides, and even most of the top has it too. Before, I used a Ubee DVW326 modem and that had mounting holes on one side, and like the Arris TG2472 it is a vertical modem. I'd like to put this as high as possible, on the ceiling or close to it. Most shelves are short so would need a really tall one. Wall mount Arris Modem I have Arris TG2472 and wondering if there's any way to mount it to the wall as I can't find the holes for that on the modem. Thanks a lot
