ContributionsMost RecentMost LikesSolutionsRe: Plan upgraded without my consent I went into a Cox store to exchange my Contour box for a new one. I mentioned that I had the bundle (phone, cable, internet). The guy said they no longer do the bundles so I could drop the phone if I wanted. He went through all the options and what they would cost, and said I had until October 1 to decide if I wanted the "deal" option that came with a camera, but would require me to take in my phone capable modem and exchange for one that just does cable/internet. I took his card and left. Later that day, I got an email saying my plan had been changed to the camera deal option, per my request. I was like WTF? I called and was able to get that cancelled. Don't like this shady way they do things without consent. Re: HBO Max app programs will not play correctly on Philips TV Honestly I don't use the voice control all that much. I have friends with Fire Sticks that they did a jailbreak on to get everything free, I don't need that. I have friends with Roku that love them, so I'll look into some other devices. Re: HBO Max app programs will not play correctly on Philips TV I do have a few HDMI ports on my TV and I've looked into the Fire Stick. Once in a blue moon, they go on sale for $24.99 Re: HBO Max app programs will not play correctly on Philips TV Okay, thanks. I just wasn't sure if it was a one-time purchase of the device or if there was a monthly fee to use the device once I buy it. Re: HBO Max app programs will not play correctly on Philips TV So, how do those devices work? Do I just install them and then I can navigate to the apps I subscribe to and log on with a code or something like that? Would I have to just buy the device, or is there an additional monthly fee for using Fire Stick or Roku or whatever? Re: HBO Max app programs will not play correctly on Philips TV I just checked all of my 3rd party apps and they are now launching and working. I see others with this issue, and someone said they had called and Cox wasn't even aware of it. I did a little research last night and saw that some earlier Philips TVs (pre-2017) will not allow for the manipulation of preset apps, and will not allow for downloading of any app stores (Google Play being the main one mentioned for Philips). I honestly don't know how old my set is. My parents bought it, and it sat at their house for a few years before they gave it to me, but it's most likey 2015 or so. So I guess I'm just stuck with the Net TV apps or the BS I deal with on Cox/Contour. Thank you for the article though, I'll see if there is anything I can do. Re: Contour Apps no longer stream All of my apps are now working Re: Contour Apps no longer stream And, once the error appears, it stays on the screen while the TV audio continues to play and I can't exit out. I have to reboot the box to get the TV picture back. Re: HBO Max app programs will not play correctly on Philips TV When I use the remote for the TV and go to it's apps, there is only a limited selection, and none of them are the ones I subscribe to. My TV is hooked up to the Contour box so that I can access Cox Cable. I have HBOMax and Netflix through Cox, but I also have Hulu, Disney+, and Prime Video and can access them with the Cox remote. I know it doesn't make sense, but I've spent countless hours looking for a way to manipulate the apps on my TV and it can't be done. It came with something called Net TV where the apps are found, and it just has a bunch of weird ones like Field and Stream, Popular Science, iFoodTV, Outdoor Life. Right now, NONE of my apps are working, so I will have to waste time exchanging this stupid Contour Box. Re: Contour Apps no longer stream Yep, just started for me today. Reboot didn't fix it for me either. I'm guessing I need to go get a new box, even though I've had this one less than a year. But, I had this issue last Fall so had to go through the hassle of exchanging out my box.
