The modem shouldn't matter, but it never hurts. There's a good chance your A/V or firewall updated recently and needs a reboot of the puter to operate correctly. Strange, but often true. If this works, next time, go with the just the 'puter. Re: Calls listing my number as the caller ID (ie. me calling me) I see robo calls to my ATT cell phone and my century link copper line that show 702-363-xxxx which is my prefix. The a-holes are spoofing numbers to get us to answer the calls. I dunno how cox can stop that. I think sometimes (not certain now) that the calls even have a name on the caller ID. I had a woman call me a few days ago--woke me up - to ask why I called her 363 ph number. Seems like a lot the calls are selling back braces. Re: Stopped Getting Email reboot 'puter. Most likely a firewall update is causing blockage. Re: Error message when sending email try rebooting the computer. All kinds of outgoing mail problems are caused by firewall updates and cured by rebooting. Re: Need help changing IP address on new cox modem When you changed the MAC address, whose MAC address did you use? If you use a MAC address, that's assigned to a different device, somewhere in the universe, you can cause all kinds of conflicts for yourself and your victim. It's rare that someone actually legitimately NEEDS to force a new IP address. Apparently, your new modem is using something different for a default gateway. Something other than 192.168.1.1, which is probably the most common IP add for that as assigned by a "consumer" modem or router. Get your computer to tell you what your default gateway is.
