I think the IAW RFC Specifications are out of date with modern email usage. Incoming email delay Yesterday I noticed a considerable delay for incoming email ( anywhere from 20 minutes to 2 hours). I sent myself numerous test messages from my gmail account and my hotmail account. Each to nearly 30 min to arrive in my Cox Webmail. The problem resolved itself around 10:00PM and a flood of email came through. Now I am experiencing the same delays this morning. Everything else is normal and internet speeds are normal. Anyone else having this problem? Any suggestions? Re: is pop.cox.net out There is a notice on my account page that states that Cox is performing maintenance on the email platform from midnight 'til 7:00 AM ET on the 14th. However it is now 3 1/2 hours past that and still no email. Cmon Cox! Re: Error Codes 16 & 24 Modem is located on a shelf, in the open, with plenty of air flow. It’s plugged directly into an AC outlet. Re: Error Codes 16 & 24 There are no splitters or amps before or after the modem. It's a straight run from the pole to my modem. The drop was replaced about 3 months ago and all has been good since then, up until yesterday. Error Codes 16 & 24 Anyone have an idea of what’s going on? I’ve had a rock solid connection for months now and suddenly yesterday this started. Constant Event Code 16 & 24 notices appearing in my Event Log and thousands of uncorrectable errors. These screenshots were taken about 2 minutes after resetting my modem (Netgear CM1200). This hasn’t had a huge impact on performance,YET, but it has me concerned. Re: Poor signal when it rains Thanks for the ideas, Bruce, but I live in an older section of town. No underground cable here. Only a drop coming to a plastic box on the outside of the house (Pretty well protected from the rain.) and then a short run of coax into the house. Re: Poor signal when it rains It definitely takes some time. After its been raining for 30 min or so, problems start to show up. It takes several hours after the rain has stopped and things have dried out before things return to normal. Poor signal when it rains I have a recurring problem every time it rains. When it is raining, my downstream power levels go from their normal of about -6 dBmV to about -14 dBmV and the SNR drops from its normal 43 dB down to the mid to upper twenties. At the same time my Event Log shows an MDD Message Timeout about every 10 seconds and occasional T3 Timeouts. Obviously my modem stability and my speeds take a hit during rainstorms. After the rain stops and things dry out, everything returns to normal and I have a reliable connection once again. I’m afraid that if I scheduled a tech visit, the tech would most likely come when it was not raining, would check my signal levels, say they all looked excellent, and that would be the end of it. Modem is a Netgear CM1200, there are no splitters coming into the house, and I’ve checked the junction box outside my house and it is not leaking any water. Any suggestions? Is email from Home Depot being blocked I received an email from Home Depot in my hotmail account that I wanted to save in my cox account, so I forwarded it from my hotmail account to my cox account. It never came through. After several failed attempts I checked the spam folder in my Cox WebMail - nothing there. I then went back to hotmail and forwarded the item to my gmail account. It went through immediately. I was then able to forward it from gmail to my cox account and it went through. I have no filters set up on cox that would effect it. Any idea what might be going on?
