Re: Massive Packetloss on upload It's because both games are hosted on AWS. Your only fix will be switching to CenturyLink. If a forum admin claims you have packet loss to your modem, they're more than likely lying. Re: TO EVERYONE experiencing packet loss / horrible lag on fortnite as of this past week We both know a traceroute will do nothing :) I can name drop one of your network engineers and you could get me into contact with him again maybe? :) He's based in AZ Re: TO EVERYONE experiencing packet loss / horrible lag on fortnite as of this past week I've talked with lead network engineers at both amazon and cox for 4 months. It sounds like the issue you're having is something different. I am specifically talking about packet loss to AWS hosted games like fortnite. This has nothing to do with overloaded nodes and throttling - this has to do with packet reordering. Just read my post man. Re: STILL GETTING PACKET LOSS AFTER IT WAS "FIXED" To clarify, COX is the perpetrator here - they own faulty hardware which reorders UDP packets to AWS, and then AWS drops them, causing what seems to be "packet loss". Order matters for video games. When the order isn't perfect, fortnite detects this and drops the packets. This is the issue. It is entirely COX's fault. Re: STILL GETTING PACKET LOSS AFTER IT WAS "FIXED" It actually is a problem with AWS. I literally talked to a AWS lead network engineer for 4 months to diagnose this stuff, as well as a network engineer at COX. It absolutely is the problem. Re: Bad Ping and Packet Loss on fortnite while using cox. You're being lied to. There is more than likely no packet loss to your modem. The issue is a packet reordering issue which epic actually addressed specifically for cox users. Unfortunately the fix doesn't always work. During high traffic hours youre going to see horrible amounts of packet loss to fortnite. Here is what's going on -https://forums.cox.com/forum_home/internet_forum/f/internet-forum/23561/to-everyone-experiencing-packet-loss-horrible-lag-on-fortnite-as-of-this-past-week TO EVERYONE experiencing packet loss / horrible lag on fortnite as of this past week The packet loss is back after 4-5 months. Any and all help you receive from a COX rep here will be a flat out lie to you. For 4 months I worked with COX, epic, and amazon to figure out the packet loss issues we all were having. The issue has to do with faulty hardware COX purchased in the past, which reorders packets when it shouldn't when dealing with bursty UDP packet uploads to Amazon Web Services servers. There is no fix for this issue aside from some technical patch COX would have to create which MAY fix the issue, OR they would have to order all new hardware to replace the defective stuff they bought ~ a year ago. Here is one of 3 of my posts that caught attention from Epic on reddit and actually got everyone to look into the issue:https://www.reddit.com/r/FortNiteBR/comments/9wiwxm/i_made_a_montage_showcasing_the_connectivity/ Here is the post epic released after developing a packet reordering fixSPECIFICALLY TO AID COX AND MEND THE PROBLEM, unfortunately only for 4 months. During this time, COX did nothing for any of you - they did not fix their hardware, they let the crutch provided by epic carry them through the packet loss issue.https://www.reddit.com/r/FortNiteBR/comments/awagpo/packet_reordering_technical_post/ More likely than not they will do nothing to solve this. You will not receive help here. Feel free to message me here with any questions 🙂 I've already gotten back in contact with epic, they're looking into it again for us. There is NO true solution besides dropping Cox as your ISP. I do not know how what they're doing is actually legal. :) Re: Packet Loss Issues - 300mbps speed now down to less than 40mbps for 5ghz, 20mbps for 2ghz Hey man, unfortunately anyone who responds to you here is flat out lying to you. You will not get help for this. COX bought faulty hardware that reorders packets to all AWS servers and disrupts gaming, streaming, etc. Bursty UDP packets get reordering, causing you to experience what seems like packet loss. I would know - I'm the one who worked with amazon, epic, and cox to figure it out. The only solution is COX buying brand new hardware, which who knows if they will. Epic and Amazon were super helpful and got customers off COX's back when they released a huge packet reordering update here -https://www.reddit.com/r/FortNiteBR/comments/awagpo/packet_reordering_technical_post/ This specifically targeted customers of the COX isp to allow us to keep playing, although Epic didn't single them out. Unfortunately, the issue has returned. You will receive 0 help from anyone on this forum. I had to make an actual packet loss montage to get help from JShredz on reddit. Your efforts are futile, sorry dude. This was one of my 3 posts:https://www.reddit.com/r/FortNiteBR/comments/9wiwxm/i_made_a_montage_showcasing_the_connectivity/ Re: Severe packet loss (Upload) to amazon web services (Fortnite) - UPDATE 1/9 hm yeah after barely skimming over what a packet capture device is, it seems the improved connection might have just been coincidental. I'm 99% sure the issue resides within cox's routing to amazon's servers. it seems this issue is getting really bad as of the past couple days though, so I'm sure more will show up. Hopefully we can figure out how to get their attention
