That is a totally worthless and time-wasting activity. Cox servers easily recognize these as spam when they are sent on the OUTGOING servers - why can't they recognize them as spam on the INCOMING servers? I've already cancelled my 20 yr landline because Cox would not put any effort into helping with a solution for the 10+ robocalls per day, and now I'm considering cancelling my Cox email because whatever you've done recently has created such a nightmare for your email users. If my Cox email goes, so does my TV and internet service with Cox! IS ANYBODY LISTENING!!!!!!!! Re: Spam, spam and more spam Why doesn't COX have these filters in place for INCOMING email? Why do your users have to become experts at filtering SPAM emails? Cox easily recognizes the spam on their OUTGOING servers, so why aren't those same filters in place for INCOMING emails? The solutions suggested from Cox representatives on these forums is a useless waste of everybody's time - reporting the SPAM using the "report as spam" button, or sending it to reportspam@cox.net is useless and a waste of time - it changes absolutely NOTHING! Re: email spam Becky's solution is worthless - we've all been doing exactly that for months now. Cox email NEVER learns what is and isn't spam from this reporting tool. You will need to look into your own solutions or set up your own email filters on your Cox.net email account. Re: I'm getting Daily Phishing emails You mean, like you've been "working on" a solution to the tons of robocalls on the landlines? I finally had to just eliminate a landline I'd had for over 20 years due to the amount of junk calls - and continued "we're working on a solution" for Cox that went absolutely NOWHERE. A simple way to implement NoMoRobo would have been great, but Cox would not even upgrade their systems to allow simultaneous ring so we could take advantage of that FREE solution! No, I'm considering deleting an email account I've had for more than 20 years because you can't work out some way to filter out incoming spam emails that your OUTGOING servers easily identify as SPAM! Re: SPAM Filtering I have not had any luck using the "header" filter in the email filtering. I've set up several filters using regex, but it's really difficult because Cox email does not read the HTML in the emails, only the VISIBLE sections. Meaning it does not read the links OR TO and CC email addresses contained within < > brackets. Also, anything set up with an "ends with" filter does not work. I tried to set up a filter that sends anything that is a BCC to me to go directly to SPAM. You'd think this would be easy - if TO or CC does NOT contain myemailaddress@cox.net, send to spam. However, If somebody has me in their address book as FirstName and the "TO" is FirstName <myemailaddress@cox.net>, Cox does NOT SEE the email address within the <> brackets and sent it to SPAM because it only sees the email came to First Name! Also, I've had zero success in trying to use the header filters. It asks for a header name. I've tried variousheader name combinations and nothing worked. Reply-to:, From:, Return-Path:, etc - with and without the colons. It just sends EVERYTHING to spam! Also DISCARD does not work - it just sends it to the SPAM folder. With most other services, DISCARD means it is just deleted without further action. Here are some regex expressions I've used that HAVE cut the spam down to minimal levels - each one needs its OWN RULE: BCC RULE: Any Recipient -> not regex -> myemail@cox.net|FirstName CONTENT RULE: From -> regex -> cbd|cannabis|keto|loan|meds|pharm|rx|tumeric|viagra|warranty Subject -> regex -> cbd|cannabis|keto|loan|meds|pharm|rx|tumeric|viagra|warranty Body -> regex -> cbd|cannabis|keto|loan|meds|pharm|rx|tumeric|viagra|warranty LESSER USED DOMAINS FILTER: From -> not regex -> \.[ca|com|edu|gov|mil|net|org|uk]>$ Hope that helps anybody out there! Re: How to increase spam filtering? Yeah, this does NOT work! The "mark as spam" or "mark as not spam" button do absolutely NOTHING. That is just a lie to say that it will "learn" from our usage and reporting what is and is not spam - I've been getting relentless spam for weeks now. I'm talking 20-50 spam emails PER DAY, and the same or similar spam messages keep coming over and over again, regardless of how often I mark them as "spam" with your little button. How can you claim to be a customer-focused company when you allow this useless piece of garbage as our email provider! Re: How to increase spam filtering? Why can't Cox block these emails from EVER reaching our inbox OR spam mail? We are all receiving thousands upon thousands of spam containing certain key words in from and/or subject: CBD, KETO, CONCEALED CARRY, CANNABIS, MED, PHARM[use regex for anything after PHARM], MCDONALD'S GIFT, AMAZON GIFT, etc. There is some major group of spammers using affiliate marketing partners and making millions of dollars by allowing their spam to get through to us! Cox - where are you for your customers! This is basic spam filtering - when I tried to forward to cox spam report, you recognized is was spam and would not allow it to go OUT, so why can't you stop it from coming IN? Why do thousands of your customers have to set up the same filters over and over, when you know this is spam and could easily block it at the server level. Why do we have to set up our own filters for flagrant violaters that are sending millions upon millions of spam emails! Re: Why do internet filters not work?????
