Do you guys know what type of Coaxial Cable is running inside your walls, and from the wall to the DVR? RG6 or RG59? Re: Introducing Contour, the new personal video experience Well thanks to the community of paying beta testers here, I'm running out of hope that there is a 'fix' for this issue. Too many people with the same problem, seems to be more indicative of a firmware issue. I was emailing Tech Support last week, but ever since I confirmed all their 'suggestions' such as removing the DVR from my surge protector, and placing my DVR in another room (none of which helped), it's been silence. I am truly unsatisfied by Cox, and do not appreciate paying this insane fees for a product that doesn't work. And if by sheer coincidence, TiVo Roamio was announced today. 6-Tuner DVR with 1-3TBHDD, streams to Apple devices, and will soon stream outside of my house. All that, for only $21 a month? That's half of what Cox is charging. I'll be contacting Cox to get acredit on my bill. I'm not happy paying $40 for installation and increased fees fora DVR that obviously wasn't ready for primetime. Re: Introducing Contour, the new personal video experience Just happened again. Tried to record channel 1045 at 11p for Daily Show. Realized at 11:07p the dvr wasn't recording. Tried to tune to that channel and this time got error 3.1.1.1. And what do you know, the channel is just fine in the bedroom where my client box is. The silence from Cox is amazing. If they don't want to acknowledge the issue here then they will be hearing me by phone soon as I demand a credit on my account. We shouldn't have to pay full price for a product that only works some of the time. Re: Recording Issue with New 6-Tuner DVR Reposting this description from another thread. Someone at Cox needs to address this. I don't appreciate paying 200+ dollars a month to have a product that regularly fails. 'Resetting' the box is a temporary fix, and not one that I am going to continue to be happy with when the upcoming fall season starts. And it's not a hardware issue, as my old WHDVR had the same issue. It's either a problem with the signal or the software. A response from Cox would be nice. This issue was actually happening back with my original WHDVR set-up, but back then all I would see was the recording listed under 'missed recordings' with no real answer as to what went wrong. These new Record 6 DVRs have given much more information regarding the error. This happened again to me this Sunday during Breaking Bad marathon. Here's a pretty good explanation of what is happening. I recording the entire 8-hour marathon. (8 episodes, all different recordings. Didn't try to manually record all at once). About 2-3 hours into the manual I go over to my client box and select the first episode to start watching. Client box just freezes on 'loading' nothing comes up. I change the channel to AMCHD, and sure enough there it is the marathon. So I know the station is broadcasting, and that my client box gets it no problem. Walk over to the Record 6 tuner, try to access the recording there. Any recording that has already completed shows that it only recorded for 1min instead of the entire program. I try to play it, and I get about 2 seconds of video, and then it's done. Then I try accessing AMCHD on the Record 6 tuner. 'Sorry, there is currently no TV signal detected for this channel. The channel may be temporarily off air. Please try again later. Reference 3.1.2.0' REALLY? Station works fine in the other room. Unplug the box, restart, and voila! AMCHD is back on. This has happened approximately once a week for a past few months. Never happens with ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC, or CW. Always the higher stations (AMC, ABCFamily, A&E, MTV, Comedy Central.) All these stations are the HD channels. I recently replaced the coaxial cable from the wall to the record 6 tuner. For about a week that seemed to work, but now the same problems are creeping again. I know it can't be anything regarding the signal after the record 6 box, since it's a recording malfunction. I have to assume it's either a software issue, or a problem with the signal coming into my home. Glad to see I'm not the only one with this problem. Would be nice if someone had a fix for this. Re: 6 tuner dvr issues cont Azpen said: KipK said: 3. This one I have heard of but haven't seen myself. One thing that used to cause this kind of thing in older receivers was failure of a single tuner, but that seems unlikely in brand new boxes. Can you try power-cycling the receiver before your next scheduled recording and seeing if that has an effect? 3. the box has been power cycled after each day now in hopes of fixing the issue but more and more im thinking this could be software related since others are having the same issue as seen on the boards. After power cycling it last night none of the recording setup after the box came recorded at all thanks for the help so far, I fear right now that we are paying to beta test somethings that should have been fixed in the soft roll out and by a few people i wont name in Atlanta... Let me thrown in my two cents regarding this issue, since I've also been having it for some time now. Re: Introducing Contour, the new personal video experience Jeez, you'd think a cable company could have a little more universal rules throughout the different markets. So OK gets to swap their old WHDVR to the Record 6 tuner for free and self-install, but San Diego has to set up an appointment AND pay $ for the professional install? Re: Introducing Contour, the new personal video experience Tried out the Contour app last night. Works great on the iPad, but had no success getting the 'push to tv' function to work. I do have a Record 6 tuner, but noticed that the guide on it does not say Contour in the lower left corner as your videos say it should. Is this a feature that hasn't rolled out to San Diego yet? Re: Recording Issue with New 6-Tuner DVR Did it actually record for a full minute, or is that just what the DVR guide says? I've had the same problem where recordings would say they only recorded one minute, but when I try to play, it's more like a second or two at the most. Most recently happened for Ultimate Spider-Man on Disney XD HD this past Sunday (8/4) at 11a. Re: Increase channels on new DVR http://www.youtube.com/user/CoxCommTV/videos Looks like it's been officially announced today. So...care to share the details with us now? ;) My biggest questions after seeing the video are: Does this app access our recorded shows on the DVR? And will we have to be connect to Cox HSI in order for this to work, or will the app work when I'm on vacation? Re: Increase channels on new DVR It would be nice if you could start getting into that 'other stuff' soon, since we're already being charged for these other supposed features. Apparently this is why there is no real consensus regarding why exactly our fees were increase by $10 for the Record-6 DVR.
