ContributionsMost RecentMost LikesSolutionsCox WiFi Security keeps reporting a non-issue I have a Western Digital MY CLOUD HOME DUO that Cox WiFi ADVANCED SECURITY keeps having issues with. Sometimes it only reports BLOCKING access from known malicious I.P.s, other times it says I need to TAKE ACTION and may state something like this: Blocked 8 attemps but 5 need you to TAKE ACTION. But the actual reason for this is never stated, nor is the specific threat identified. I am running the current software, have rebooted the device many times, and am not going to QUARATINE it because nothing ever comes of these threats, and the device is useless to me if it is quarantined. Short of disabling ADVANCED SECURITY, what can I do to stop this? I have read online that WD has had issues with backdoor holes in their dashboard software, but there is nothing I can do about that. Thanx. Re-validate webmail ???? I received an email from: Provider IT Tech as follows: Your Cox! Web mail version is outdated and has expired. Failure to Upgrade to the newest Cox! Thanx. bad ethernet port on new ARRIS TG1682G A couple months ago my old gateway died and I started leasing a new ARRIS gateway from Cox. When I installed it I had some trouble getting my wired network to work, and eventually found that the first Ethernet port was bad. By swapping cables and equipment to various ports, it was determined only Port 1 was bad. Some time after that I tried Port 1 again and it worked. Since (at that time) I was only using three ports, I didn't worry about it. Yesterday I bought a NAS and it needs a wired network connection. Port 1 was dead again. Switching the NAS to another port got the NAS up, but now I need another port for the computer that was displaced. Sooo... Before I go to the trouble of tearing my system down again, I was wondering if there is something that cause this intermittent behavior or if it is just an intermittent problem and the gateway needs to be replaced. Last time I did this I did all the troubleshooting and setup work, and Cox charged me a "fee". I eventually got that fee credited, but I would like to avoid the hassles this time in the event I have to swap the gateway. Thanx. Re: Cox website slow - or me? For the last couple days our internet service has been great. The tech showed up this morning, and after checking everything, declared the system OK. He did tell me there had been some maintenance/upgrades going on in our neighborhood. It would have been to everyone's advantage if the Techs I was messaging had told me that. I wouldn't have gone to all the trouble of tearing my wiring apart to check it, replacing the gateway and experiencing the general frustration of trying to fix something that was beyond my control. Even logging into cox.com has been faster, so I am very hopeful our issues have been resolved. With the exception of the online techs not telling me about the service interruptions in my neighbor, I give Cox Tech Support credit for addressing my issues. I hope it continues. OK, I just clicked ADD REPLY and nothing happened. I'll try adding as a new message. Cox website slow - or me? I have been having many issues of late, one of which is when I log into cox.com (CHROME or FIREFOX) it seems to take a long time once I enter my credentials until I am actually logged in, and then it usually takes a long time to get to whatever destination I am looking for. Is it just me? I also have had very sporadic internet (hard wired) service. With SPEED TEST I can often see (in the same test) speeds varying from 50Mbs (and above) to less than 10 Mbs. I replaced my gateway yesterday with a new ARRIS TG1682G so I don't think it's hardware related. I also checked all the internal house wiring and splitters yesterday while I was experiencing extremely slow service by substitution and bypass) and all that was fine (several hours wasted). Ever since the big outage last Friday my internet has been worse than usual (have had issues for years). Sometimes my neighbors have the same issues, sometimes not (their drop is from a totally different service across the street). Presently I am waiting for Tech Support to contact me back about scheduling a service call, but if things aren't broke the day the Tech comes that will serve no purpose. Any ideas? Thanx. Re: Minibox as audio level control I can control the audio level via the Mini Box. I still cannot control the TV in any way. It appears SUPERSONIC's control codes are State secrets and therefor their TV will not respond to the URC-2220-R. If you ever discover their codes, I would appreciate an email advising me. Thanx, Mike Re: Minibox as audio level control I found the solution on your website at: http://www.urcsupport.com/urc_product/cox-mini-ir-urc2220/ Click on the CODE FINDER LINK below the graphic, then click the last option on the page: CHANGING VOLUME LOCK SETTINGS. This method works: The method below did not work UNTIL I did the above steps: On the URC-2220-R, press MENU, Then scroll to SETTINGS and press SELECT Next, scroll to AUDIO & VIDEO Highlight VOLUME CONTROL Right arrow to VARIABLE/FIXED Select VARIABLE Mike Re: Minibox as audio level control Hello Dustin, Yes I did try the "search" you mention (several times). It didn't work either. All three MiniBoxes and their associated TV's do not recognize the "variable" audio control setting. As i believe I mentioned in my original post, when I drill down to that setting and click VARIABLE, nothing changes (i.e. the remote still will not control audio level in the MiniBox). I tried this with all three of the remote/MiniBoxes I have. They all seem to be stuck in FIXED. It doesn't matter with two of them because those remotes control the TV OK. I have read several posts by other people concerning setting the level of the MiniBox audio, and I gather they were able to crank up the level using that procedure (SETTINGS | AUDIO | etc.) but when I try it the audio level out of the MininBox never changes. Re: Minibox as audio level control Re: Minibox as audio level control Bruce, please see my reply to Becky. Thanx for the reply.
