For the past few weeks, my upload speed has been suffering a LOT for a reason I'm unable to figure out. Using the cox speed test, my download speed hovers around the same speeds, 700-800 ish depending. But the upload speeds bounce around like crazy. I'll do a speed test, and it'll be around 35 MB, then the very next it will drop to like 1-2, then go up to 10, etc. It's very evident when I'm gaming and when using VOIP programs, because I'll start lagging very hard in the games and sounding robotic in programs like Discord.I tried to get the help of a live agent about a week ago, but he just reset my router and told me my connection was fine. Playing a game right after, the same problems persisted. This issue goes for both wired and WiFi connections. Can someone give me an idea of what's going on? Router has no connection after a power outage? Hello, just yesterday morning/afternoon a storm knocked my power out momentarily, but the router hasn’t seemed to recover yet. I was wondering if I could get the status of my router checked and possibly remotely reset? Manually resetting it at home hasn’t seemed to work, and I know when someone did it remotely when I asked on here, it worked just fine afterwards. I hope my router is alright. Power was knocked out, line now dead? So last night, the power went out twice last night for reasons I don’t know. The first time was just a few seconds, and the second time was five minutes. The power restored, but our modem of a few years dropped connection. Just today I went to get the newest Panoramic WiFi modem thinking that was the issue, but the problem still persists. The LAN does not work, the WiFi does not work. The LAN has my network as network 3 - no internet access. Ive never had an issue of both the Ethernet and WiFi connections not working, leading me to believe that something happened to the line running to my apartment. I can’t even remotely reset my modem, seeming as if it can’t even be detected currently. Ideally I would like to go straight to a service call and have technicians come out to look at and fix the problem, as I’ve had issues with my line in the past. Can anyone help? Scheduling a line replacement. Hello, I recently got the OK from my landlord and the house owner to replace a faulty line to the tap that has been the cause of major disconnections to my internet service for the past few months. Is it possible to schedule for one of these ASAP? Looking to set up a line replacement. Hello! In recent weeks I've had two technicians come over to try and troubleshoot my internet issue, and according to the second technician, the line to the tap that Cox replaced a few years back was not installed underground, but rather out of the back wall and above ground, going under the fence in the backyard. This has led to extreme interference and constant drops in my connection due to wear and tear by the weather, and he said with the permission of my landlord, I can have internal rewiring and line installment done for the house. I have two questions. One, since this was an error on Cox's behalf, is this line replacement going to cost me extra? And second, is there a number that my landlord can call to discuss the details of said rewiring? Thanks in advance! Re: Disconnects up to 15+ times per day. Thanks for the reply! The issues did improve a bit overall after the jumper was replaced, but there are still quite a few disconnects that occur throughout the day. It has been mostly calm today, but the past few days were almost at the status of prior to the jumper replacement. After replacing the jumper he did recommend the maintenance to fix the remaining issues to the line afterwards. Re: Disconnects up to 15+ times per day. Karen_R said: Hello Mike, The modem has 0% packet loss with high power adjustments. Since you have already tested by bypassing the splitter the next step is to schedule a tech to investigate the issue. Please send an email to cox.help@cox.com with this forum post, your full address, and the best contact number to reach you. We will reply back to the email with the times for a trouble call. Would really like a further response to my comment above. Re: Disconnects up to 15+ times per day. So I had a tech come out at the scheduled time, but not much has changed. He tested the connection to the line and mentioned there was definitely some errors there, but was unable to actually locate the tap it was connected to, or that of the general set of apartments. He said I should schedule a "plant maintenance" I think it's called? Is it possible this could be set up for me? I'd very much like to get the line replaced to my tap, or at the very least repaired. The disconnects are as frequent as ever. EDIT: 15 disconnections today. I really don't want to switch providers. Cox without the issues is fantastic, but these past couple months have been absolutely horrible. Disconnects up to 15+ times per day. Really at my wit's end with this one, and would like some help on getting this fixed once and for all. This has been going on for weeks now, but at the moment the disconnects are worse than ever. The amount ranges from 10-20 times per day usually. After checking the modem logs it seems that they don't tell the whole story, but this is the information my logs give me so far: Event Log http://i.imgur.com/DjFHri7.png http://i.imgur.com/9nd3UrK.png Downstream/Upstream Status http://i.imgur.com/F0xOcUq.png I'll try to give any other information you need, as long as this problem gets fixed. I've reset the modem, removed the splitter from the cabling to try directly to the line, and even tried different outlets just in case in might be some other kind of electrical interference. Thanks in advance for the help. Re: Connection drops, fluctuating speeds Hello again! I had a tech come out this morning and we switched the modem to a new cable outlet, however the issues are still happening. He said it might be required for Cox maintenance men to come out and repair/replace the line leading into my house from the tap, as it was bad. OR try replacing the modem. Is there a sort of price check I could get on either of these solutions?
