Prices are constantly going up to a point it just not affordable any more. k Re: COX to Yahoo, Forward email COX should have let us pick where we would like to transfer all our mail. YAHOO is FREE so isn't other better choices like Gmail. I missed much of my mail because I was expecting it to be handled like before with forwarding. Paying Yahoo to forward my mail when it is free with other FREE providers is certain a step down. k Re: COX to Yahoo, Forward email I have this information. I could not find out why I can't forward my email like I did with COX without paying for a Premium + plan. This is not what I had with COX Web mail. If I had this basic feature before, what is COX doing with this complete email inconvenience transition to Yahoo (Far from my first choice) to resolve the problem? Ken COX customer COX to Yahoo, Forward email I was under the impression the move to Yahoo would work with the same features or more as it did with COX. Why wasn't my COX account configured as it was when it was with COX? I had my email configured to be forward to another account. I can't find in the settings how to do that. From reading I believe mail forward is only in their Premium Mail which is paid for. As a COX customer will COX be correcting this as part of the transfer so COX customers will receive the same level of service they had with no additional cost? I have been missing several emails since the recent move until I noticed the FORWARD was not happening. Please advise, Ken Re: Internet issues in Cranston RI Request a Credit!!! Re: Roku, Firestick, etc app app in lieu of cable box I am pretty confident if COX does their homework they will find Roku and Firestick are many times more popular than the expensive Apple TV device. Also, considering Spectrum and Xfinity have been supporting the Roku devices for years, it's obvious all the Technical work as well as any negotiations have been proven it can be done. Spectrum and Xfinity from my research use the same modems. You see this on a modem box you can buy at for example Best buy. Re: Inexperienced rep Lately my experience with Cox tech support has not been good. I can't tell you the amount of times they would say the modem is the problem, the router is the problem. The most amazing time was when I was running my line from the modem directly to my PC and was told they could see from their end the router was the problem. Ever time a Tech would come to my house (which waste my time and theirs) with in 5 minutes the problem was outside my home. Lately for Tech questions I find what I would consider a 2nd Tier Tech to be on the COXhelp email address. I get a quick response from someone who doesn't sound like their reading a script. What I will say is COX always gives me credit on my Bill however the level of credit doesn't really compensate for the down time inconvenience, for example a $5 dollar credit for being down all day is not much compensation. Another example would be when I had the phone with COX. I lose internet I lose phone too. If you have only internet and stream with other TV services you lose those services as well and at this point I don't know if COX will compensate for other services you pay for that are down from poor internet. Re: new 500/50 10% plan Hi and thank you for your reply.. According to the MFG and one of the COX Techs I spoke with about a year ago, the specifications of the SB6190 (32x8) exceeded the 50 upload speed. If you do a quick google search on a SB6190 it stating 262mbps upload speed. Also if as you say it is good for only 10 up then this confuses me because just a few years ago I was on a plan that offered 300/30 and I had no problems with the 30 upload in fact I never went below 30 upload and was always higher than the 30. Unfortunately I have to end that plan because of increased pricing of my cable TV. This has me baffled when the specs say it can easily handle 50 up, I used to have 30 up, and now all of a sudden its only good for 10 up? The other thing my account is still showing my plan as 500/10. I was told by 2 COX stores to keep an eye on my account. When it changes to 500/50 the new upload speed would be available to me. Thanks for your reply. My worst case is use one of their modem/routers in what I believe is called "bridge mode" letting me take the output of the modem router and feed a stand alone Router. I don't believe COX is still charging a rental feed for modems. I have a complicated config of WiFi cameras, thermostat and other devices requiring port forwarding and I just as soon stay with my working router. It has GigaBit ethernet ports and the WiFi is fast enough. Ken Re: Internet issues in Cranston RI By the way I also live in Rhode Island. Re: Internet issues in Cranston RI For what it's worth, I was going through a similar time with lots of outages all confirmed to be outside my home. I would call them and get credit on my bill. Ken
