So this problem isn't a mystery: the POP server (or, more likely, the RADIUS or DIAMETER or CIRCUMFERENCE or VOLUME server that's handling authentication for it) is responding: -ERR mail storage services unavailable and Outlook is not willing to ignore that error. Short of bludgeoning Microsoft into fixing this (there's a list of known errors from POP that Outlook *is* willing to ignore), Cox should also be fixing their authentication servers. This has been going on for months; I've had several accounts "moved to a different server", which helps briefly, if at all. The other suggestion was to switch to POP via SSL on port 995, which doesn't work for me because I have a spam proxy in between. Is there some mystery about provisioning sufficient resources to actually have the authentication work reliably? Re: Introducing Contour, the new personal video experience Re PIP: I think the OP was referring to the fact that the old DVR did PIP. Seems like a big step backward. Re: Introducing Contour, the new personal video experience ChrisL: To what are you referring? Your post lacks context. Re: Introducing Contour, the new personal video experience It's a9865HDC. Re: Introducing Contour, the new personal video experience Well, gawrsh, who woulda thunk...will look when I get a chance and report back! (Cisco gets points for NOT hiding it--all too many devices seem to make "Find the model number" into a game. Cell phones, for example--my LG G2 is a particular model of G2, which isn't trivial to discover; easiest way is to log into Sprint's website and look at my account, which is clearly not a foolproof method!) Thanks. Re: Introducing Contour, the new personal video experience Is the model visible anywhere in the menus? Getting at the back of the box is a bit of a pain the way it's installed. I'll do it if I have to, as your question is obviously key, but if I can get it from the menus, so much the better! Re: Introducing Contour, the new personal video experience We have WHDVR with Contour, and while I have a long list of complaints about it, we have NOT had to reboot it ever. We don't use the remote box that much, though; not sure if that's a factor. Just more data points. This is in Virginia, Fairfax. Note that we have pretty decent infrastructure in our neighborhood, as what was there when Cox bought out the local provider was horrible and they had to replace it all. I would be unsurprised if some of the problems were due to poor error handling and problematic networks, not that that's an excuse. Re: Introducing Contour, the new personal video experience Let me rephrase: How can I view the version? I'm not going to randomly go to stations and see if some maybe-feature maybe-works, that's pretty unscientific. Re: Introducing Contour, the new personal video experience Sounds like some forward progress! How will we know when we have the update? Re: Introducing Contour, the new personal video experience Alas,ATPTourFan's quasi-rant is right on target. The number of rough edges on these boxes is sad--it does feel like a Beta at best (more like an Alpha). My latest discovery: when you go to delete a recorded program and select "Delete", it says you have to hit B to confirm. But just hitting SELECT again does the delete. While that's a more logical choice, it's not what the software CLAIMS you have to do, and is thus an opportunity for data loss. And is especially surprising, given the number of places where intuitive button use is NOT implemented (e.g., using either N/S/E/W buttons to navigate, instead of ignoring the top set entirely when in the menus).
