I discovered that my system was similarly bonked. Then I realized that last night about 1 AM, Cox emailed us that "Your account is locked for safety". This had happened back in October, topic 30806. People here were convinced that the email was spam. Well, it's apparently not, because the account really was locked. It is a mystery to me whythis has recurred, given that I had reset various profile features. Re: Strange email "Your account is locked for safety" A thousand apologies for my inclusion of the questionable links here on the forum. In my frustration, I was not fully thinking. Last evening I telephoned in to Cox support and a nice lady led me through changing my password etc. which I had triedto do multiple times, but could not seem to satisfy the system. She seemed to indicate that my login had been compromised. So I am confused as to whether this alert was, or was not, real. I received a second email 7:37PM, shortly afterengaging with the agent,as I was attempting to change password. It was basically the same, except added lines about 2FA. I have forwarded the first message as html and as raw source to thephishingreport@cox.net address. Re: Strange email "Your account is locked for safety" I meant we logged in at cox.com, not cox.net ! Strange email "Your account is locked for safety" We receiveda strange email "Your account is locked for safety". Says "had to lock your account because security flagged some odd behavior" And, "Reset your password at ***.***and you'll regain access to your account.Change your security questions once you're back in." Sure sounds like phishing. Says "Reach us anytime at ***.***/****" but I find no way to initiate chat after logging in at cox.net. Anyone haveany idea? **edited by moderator for safety* SolvedRe: BGP hijacking Same here in So Calif ... repeated probes toward screenshare ... What can be done? Can we get Cox to block this apparently well-known bad actor? Re: Cox email fails to forward ... Hello – Today I checked my cox.net accounts; auto-forwarding (followed by removal) seems to be working once again. Although, one inbox contains over 30 older emails that were received and retained there (from me) instead of auto-forwarded (to another cox.net address). I had cleaned out such detritus from the latter, some days earlier. So for now, case closed. I remain annoyed at the ineffective “support” that I was subjected to, including arbitrarily changing my password while doing nothing, saying that an additional $10/month would be required for any supprt (ludicrous, as I was reporting functional failure of Cox server), and saying that a requested supervisor would return my call (never happened), and so I was frankly surprised to receive a support follow-up email on 3/22. Re: Cox email fails to forward ... Hi! Thanks KevinM2,message sent. I do not see "myconnection.cox.com" in any headers ... Cox email fails to forward ... Cox email fails to forward ... Our IP cameras send a daily health message to a unique Cox address. That address is set to forward to a second Cox address. In turn, that second address is set to forward, these and other messages to my external domain mailserver. Lately, neither forwarding action is working. Settings appear correct (and are unchanged from days ago when it worked). Cox help-chat is useless, they have no tools. How do I get some knowledgeable attention to this problem? detected suspicious activity ... or not We have received (so far) 2 emails from Cox claiming that "We've detected suspicious activity on your Cox.net email account xyz@cox.net [and zyx@cox.net] and believe this email address password may be compromised or your computer may be infected with Malware. If you do not recognize this email account, it may have been created without your knowledge." We regularly scan our Mac with MalwareBytes, and other utilities, seeing NO malware here. The email goes on to say that we should change our password(s). Is anyone else getting these things? Is there any way to get through the bureaucracyto find just what "suspicious" activity they are seeing? Or is it just one of those annoyances ... Solved
