Out of the box my modem (the -RG) was capable of around ~950Mbps but Docsis 3.0 is going the way of the dodo. I used to have 550-600Mbps service years ago, it has served me well. So in recent years it's getting throttled down or just not provided the same access as 3.1. So I call today and 'Bob' tech supervisor at Cox is sending me a panoramic wifi 6 router/modem combo free of charge. That'll fix it. Looks like they also scheduled the tech but I said I don't need that :) so I'm waiting on confirming that I don't need a tech. I think this issue will be resolved after 2 years *crossing fingers* I'll be able to enjoy the speed I pay for whenever I have a 200Gig video game download @ however fast Steam gives me. Re: Cox is throttling speeds of DOCSIS 3.0 modems Netgear CG3000D-RG Re: Cox is throttling speeds of DOCSIS 3.0 modems Yep. I used to have the better service 300-350+ but now I'm locked out of it so they can generate more e-waste. Re: Cox is throttling speeds of DOCSIS 3.0 modems Nope, I've talked with multiple people in tech support, a supervisor in tech support and to the customer retention/loyalty department. My modem has been reset multiple times remotely and I've rebooted it myself several times. They've assured me that my modem is being throttled down and they are not allowing me access to the service which I used to be able to enjoy..... Cox is throttling speeds of DOCSIS 3.0 modems I used tohave250-350Mbps down 2 years ago but Cox has throttled down some older DOCSIS 3.0 modems to only have access to the essential 150mbps speed. If Cox didn't have a monopoly on internet service providers in my area I'd switch ASAP. Probably just trying to sell more of their junk modem rentals to unwitting customers and take advantage of their lack of knowledge.
