I really want to see about getting different equipment, but will the home life stuff still work? if not will it connect to a wireless router that I already have? I really just want an old school box/DVR that uses coax, I have a wireless router that is fine, and I have a cox modem, that I own that is only a few years old Please help Re: Tv on contour app with in home wifi Thanks Kevin, I do appreciate it, but I must say I am curious, (not trying to sound like a Dish spokesman either) but with that app, there are no restrictions, no limits, the app connects directly to thebox in one's home over the internet, and you can then watch anything, anywhere, anytime as long your device has cell service, anything you can see at home, you can watch anywhere, no "in home" restrictions, no fox regional restrictions, it is very nice, no additional apps needed, I did not know prior to signing up with Cox again that the contour dvr is cloud based, generally speaking I am not a fan of cloud based tech, but that's a different discussion for a different time. Thanks again for your reply, I look forward to someone reaching out to me about the camera, the smart bulb and door sensor work fine in the app, just the camera is the problem. I will check out the article you linked on the wi-fi, and I did figure out the issue with the app, my email is tied to 2 different cox accounts, but the user name is different, my app was logged into the other account, so even though I was on my wi-fi, I was logged into the other account. Re: router username and password thanks guys for replying, I did reset it, I did get back in. After resetting it I got a message about needing to change the admin password, I did not see this when I logged in after it was initially installed, but I have now changed that. I would have reset it sooner but was concerned I would have to call in and get it set back up on the TV side. I got the internet, Wi-Fi, TV and most of the home life stuff working again with minimal effort, but my camera wont connect. I was having issues with this before resetting the modem, "communication lost" message when I would login to the home life app, I removed it, and have tried to re-add it, but when the app scans is says it cannot detect it, I have read other posts here with people having issues with the camera, any thoughts on that? I have tried several times with the "Y" cable, no luck Tv on contour app with in home wifi Even with my tablet connected to my in home wifi the contour app thinks I am not on it and wont let me watch certain channels, I just signed up with cox again after leaving them 3 years ago and am regretting it already Homelife camera not working, the wifi is pretty weak, the contour app is very feature lacking, just left dish but I am beginning to wish I had not, their app is far superior. Why wont the contour app recognize that my tablet is connected to my wifi? Re: router username and password thanks man, I have not tried, that, power cycled several times, I will try that, thanks for the clarification, I am new to that tech, have not been a cox customer for a few years Re: router username and password when you say hard reset, you mean reboot or stick a pin in the reset hole in back? Re: router username and password tried that several times, no luck, tried from different computers, it really seems to me someone has accessed it and changed it, does COX ever do that? seems so weird I could get in, now I cant, I really want to see the logs, pitiful tools they give you from the cox.com page router username and password my service was installed Thursday, I was able to login to the panoramic router, I made no changes, just wanted to look at settings, I have been in the IT industry for 22 years, I wanted to look at the firewall settings and MAC filtering options, but again made no changes, was busy and had to go, today I tried to login several times and can no longer get in with the default admin password. Does COX ever login and change these? my concern some has hacked it, I now see several devices connected that I cannot identify, if I reset the unit, not reboot, but reset, will I need COX to reconfigure it? If someone else has the password it will do me no good to just reset the wireless password, they will just change it
