Assuming it is a juniper router, it takes 1 keyword of “rapid” to rate limit this traffic. Many router and switching vendors tend to limit traffic like this so using trace route and pinging hops is not going to be a good metric for determining an issue. The traffic still is getting to the destination (as seen by hops 6/7/8) so traffic is still flowing despite this individual hop failing to respond to icmp Re: Internet Stuttering/Outages? I played along with their song and dance allowing a tech to come and the contractor said Cox won’t listen to them as they aren’t badged employees and there are upstream network issues but Cox doesn’t listen to them so he spends his day running around to homes charging billable time to Cox when he can’t fix a thing. He will check the levels and those always show everything is fine and he moves on. Tonight their tech support said they escalated to Level 2 support 2 months ago and never heard back. I asked why there is no management escalation and got the canned “we realize you are frustrated, can you reboot your PC” **. As much as I hate Elon, I ordered the Starlink equipment for my home and business. Century Link is coming to quote moving the phone lines over. I am done with Cox. Re: Cox Mobile at CES That’s not very reassuring considering how they treat customers in Vegas who put up with their constant network issues. Drove past LVCC last night, all the CES signage is up and it’s pretty busy with activity. Re: Internet Cuts Out Once A Night Same here, Vegas market. Both my residential and business lines go offline at the same time. My HOA’s Facebook group has 10 others reporting the same thing yet Cox is refusing to take any responsibility. I grow sick of their support, absolutely pathetic. They blamed my modem, my computer, my god *** life, everything except their ***. They want $75 to look into it and offered me Cox Assistsubscription or something. I just ordered 2 Starlink nodes to replace my cox residential and business internet. I hope my neighbors do the same. We have 900 in this development and them suggesting it’s us when many of those 900 all flake out simultaneously is ridiculous. They’ve been doing massive fiber runs and node splits but refuse to acknowledge that it might be related. smtp blocked, new-email accounts not permitted, no way to send email from cox network now?! I purchased a new Canon printer/scanner, and am trying to setup e-mail. - smtp.cox.net apparently requires authentication with a valid cox email. -As of August 15, 2019, Cox no longer offers Internet customers the ability to create new Cox Email accounts or reactivate accounts that have been deleted. - use of third-party SMTP servers fails because it appears Cox is blocking port 25 outbound. What tf gives? Icannot believe I'm even having this conversation, and tech support was like "yes, correct". Something has to give, either let us use unauthenticated SMTP or allow e-mail account creation again. Who came up with this brilliant idea without doing some basic analysis of impact to users? So I guess my older security camera won't work either.
