I was curious if there were a way to pause the Cox Contour Web application on a PC.
This would be the watchtv.cox.com site.
I suspect there is not an application that could replace the web streaming, but i thought to ask.
Thank you in advance.
I think the P button pauses it? Shortcuts have to be enabled though. See thread below for more info.
Since live TV is streamed without a buffer, the P button doesn't actually pause playback with the picture frozen on the screen. Playback is stopped. Pressing "Enter" will resume live TV of the same channel in about 3 seconds, but not where playback was stopped. It's the nearest thing to pause that's available.
Since the thread you referenced was posted, I found a way to enable keyboard shortcuts that doesn't require using a mouse. When a selected channel starts playing, press and hold the "tab" key until it passes over the "full screen" icon. All player shortcuts will then work until the next time channel is changed. Numerous communications with Cox have determined that this is probably as good as it's going to get.
I was not sure if there were another way to view. I used to use teh Hauppauge software when I had a PCI tuner card. It was great. Then they switched to all digital and I had a cable card for years. Now I moved the cable card to a TiVo tuner and it works just fine.
I can view TiVo on my computer, but unfortunately it will not allow streaming to my desktop even when I am in teh same network in my household. What I can watch does indeed pause and can run to another room and then resume, but the channel listing is limited.
The streaming issue is a bit annoying since I am in the same network and just want to watch TV on my computer while I am working. It is a great background. Having a game on.
Can you browse this website and watch TV channels? https://watchtv.cox.com
Yes. This website works fine. I just cannot pause.
I do not think there is a viable solution for pausing.
I was just checking in case I missed something.

You can watch TV on your computer and work (on your computer) at the same time. Open https://watchtv.cox.com/listings and select the channel you want to watch. Then open a second window to work in.
