If I have my modem and router upstairs, and I wanted to chain my wifi down stairs to a wifi extender, then set up another one outside in the shop, what would I need to do so?
Watch out for the Wifi pods. I hear bad things about them. Make sure you can return them if you want. Also a repeater slows down your network. What would be better is to run ethernet upstairs and install a Wifi AP there.
my son uses a cell phone wi-fi extender to stay connected when out in detached shop/work area, not sure if it'll work with cox.
The cable modem and router are upstairs right now, but the shop is far enough away to where it doesn't get signal.. and if you happen to get the edge of the signal, its useless as the top speed she can get out there is 15mbps
Just another reason to use a AP instead of a repeater. The optimal setup for a repeater is to put it where you have moderate signal to increase the range. If you put it in a Wifi hole, it has no signal to repeat. Can you install ethernet into the shop?
