For about a week now, I've been experiencing connection issues where others experience lag from data coming from me, such as in VOIP applications and games. I reset my modem and router and have been checking my speeds on various internet speed tests and have the same results:Download speed is pretty normal, usually around 800Mbps (my plan is up to 940)
Upload speed is awful, 0.1-0.2 Mbps, while I'm supposed to be able to get up to 35 Mbps as per my plan.
I could really use any help with getting this issue rectified.
As far as my hardware I'm using an ASUS AC3200 Router and an ARRIS SURFboard SB8200 Modem.
The connection issue is the same on all connected devices.
First, have you tried bypassing the router and testing direct to the SB8200? Next, what are your upstream power levels from 192.168.100.1? See link below for more info;
I have tried bypassing, the upstream power levels are between 37 and 40 dBmV, I did talk to Arris about this, and they told me to ask Cox to up them to 45 somehow, but when I asked they didn't seem like they could do anything of the sort and sent out a technician. We validated my cables had no issues, bypassing the router didn't yield any results, and when he tested the line from the wall it came back saying they were sending the full 35mbps.
The problem is that this is an intermittent problem that's not occurring 24/7, sometimes my connection works fine, but there will be sometimes hours where my upload speed is so bad that I can barely do anything. They said they'd look at the lines outside of the house as well as send another technician out next week but this is pretty ridiculous
I can tell you that I am having a similar issue the upstream is 41-42 when it should be 45-51. Arris had me contact them. My levels are not consistent and even when I bypass the router and go directly to my 8200 I see anywhere from 2m to max 212m I am paying for 960 D and 35 U my U is good between 19 and 35 down is the issue and is severly unstable. Did the tech up the voltage?
He didn't. He said there was slight ingress (I think that was the word) on the overall line and that he'd open a ticket with the team that handles that. He also said he'd have another tech, like a level 2 or an expert of some sort, come out next week but I haven't heard anymore on that. I've also observed it's been starting at similar times, around 8PM.
Just tonight I experienced the same thing, about full download speed, less than 0.1mbps upload speed, around 10% packet loss.
Here are some Arris logs of when it started occurring:
