How do I change my IP address

I have the Panoramic modem/router. Cox told me to unplug it for 5-6 hours to get a new IP. Tried that a few times. Doesn't help. I think it worked when we were away for a month, but nothing short of that. I like to do this now and then. Was simple with previous internet service modem.

Any suggestions?

Hi Lttony, are you experiencing any issues at all with our service? All of our IP addresses are DHCP (dynamic), meaning, they theoretically change every 24 hours. If you leave your modem unplugged for at least 24 hours, this may trigger a new IP Address. -Kevin M. Cox Support Forum Moderator

Thanks for the reply, Kevin. Yes, I understood that I have a dynamic IP "in theory."  My IP hasn't changed since we got back Jan 3, at least.

And no, no issues. Long story short: I want to change my IP.

As Kevin suggested, leaving your equipment for at least 24 hours may trigger a change however even that is still not guaranteed. We do not have any facilities to manually request an IP change. Addresses are allocated based on network needs.
