I have been a COX customer for 23 years. Until the last year I doubt that I encountered a single problem with password and/or suspicious activity. For the last year or so, more and more and more of my routine regular email has been showing up as "Spam" and marked accordingly. I didn't pay a lot of attention to this other than curiosity as to why it was happening. I simply opened the email, marked it as "Not Spam" and went on. In June I had the first suspicious activity event occur. As instructed I went in and changed passwords on the account. Then as usual it took hours and hours and hours to sync the new password up with my email program (MacMail). Eventually, I managed to get things properly "talking" to each other. All went well until Wednesday or Thursday of last week. I received a very strange email that portended to be from COX. The heading looked odd and the body of the email was blank. Thinking this was a phishing email I called COX. .When I called about that odd email I was told that for my own security I should change my password. Knowing the misery I went through the prior change I elected to not change it since I felt that it was an excellent secure password. The next morning my cox account was shut down. Keep in mind that the body of the suspicious email was blank. I now find out that it should have been populated with an explanation and notice that my account would be shut down if I did not change password. It did not so I did not know...... I went through the process of changing passwords 5 or 6 times but nothing seemed to work. I called COX for help. That began a non-stop six hour torture activity being transferred from one department to the next. Each time I had to re-explain the problem......each time had to go through the "change password dance." In the end each party passed me on to another. For six hours this went on. I lost an entire day of work, suffered a low blood sugar and heart problems because I could not leave the phone without a disconnect. Six hours with no resolution. At the end I still am unable to send emails from my primary COX account. I have been told that the reason my account was shut down was for suspicious spam activity from my sending ISP. That is absurd. I have sent two requests to "firstname.lastname@example.org" with no results or even a contact to explain why I am being treated this way after 23 years.........Would someone PLEASE tell me how to get my sending ISP unblocked so I can send emails.......Would someone please explain why this is happening.......Would someone please explain how to stop it. .........In short after 23 years is it to much to ask for and receive some ASSISTANCE..........................THANK YOU
As a a MAC user, do not use COX E-Mail it will turn into this.
I have been using COX email along with MacMail for years with no problems until last June is when it started. Now, this situation is just the culmination of a problem systemic to COX which they seem not to care about a remedy.
ABSOLUTELY UNBELIEVABLE.........Despite being a victim of this systemic COX Spam issue......and despite not being able to send emails from my account.......Despite that, at 11:08 PM last night I receive a text and an email telling me to ......(wait for it now.....drum roll)....you guessed it.......WE HAVE NOTICED SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY ON YOUR ACCOUNT. CHANGE YOUR EMAIL PASSWORD.......Is this an attempt to make COX look like the biggest fools on the planet OR is it to drive me crazy? COX.....YOU HAVE HAD MY ACCOUNT LOCKED DOWN SINCE LAST WEEK !!!!! HOW COULD THERE BE SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY????????

Sorry to read about your problems with products & support. I've lost track of my issues w/ Cox but I ended up back w/ them.
Ex's: 'We are experiencing TV, phone & internet outages in your area'. But I was on the phone with Cox & on the internet while watching TV?? 'Your wait time is Greater than 10 minutes' OK, I'll wait........ 5 years or so??? I'm in the Cox store showing a support rep a scan of my system, specifically..... log on Count = 193......no response at all. Just a few of many......hope they solve your issues though.......
Thanks Stewart. I am no longer of the belief that this forum or any other venue of COX is a relevant outlet for legitimate help. I have given up hope that COX will ever cure my issue. They simply do not care. That said, I am preparing a package tp present to the appropriate regulatory authorities in hopes that all of us on this forum who have been ignored may obtain relief from this treatment.
HELLO BECKY..............Thank you for the response. As if this wasn't a big enough mess.....I received yet another email lat night telling me CHANGE MY PASSWORD because of SUSPICIOUS AVTIVITY. Becky, I am getting one of these emails every couple days despite the fact that I cant use the account. Would it be at all reasonable to expect that someone COULD FURNISH ME AN EXPLANATION AS TO WHAT IS HAPPENING AND WHY IT IS HAPPENING ????????????
Week # 2 and still no resolution. Still can't send emails. BUT STILL RECEIVING EMAILS AND TEXT MSGS FROM COX TELLING ME THERE IS SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY ON MY ACCOUNT....CHANGE PASSWORD.....YOOO COX...THERE IS NO ACTIVITY ON MY ACCOUNT.......You made sure of that. I have changed PW 10 times since this atrocity began.
Good morning Kevin..............What is a blacklist? How does an email address become "blacklisted? What is it that my email address supposedly did after 23 years. Why have I not been contacted with direct information regarding the situation. Why do I receive a "Suspicious Activity" notice every few days when (as you say) my email is on a "Blacklist."..................Keven, none of this makes any sense to this "senior citizen" who is being seemingly punished for something he has absolutely no idea of what it was that he was supposed to have done. When you say..." When we receive additional information, we will follow up with you." What exactly are you talking about? What kind of information? From whom? Involving what? And HOW will you "FOLLOW UP" with me? Respectfully, I do think COX owes me a complete explanation for tis situation.
Since I could not get any information from COX I went to do some of my own research. I found several locations that explains "Blacklisting" in tech terms. What I did find on all of them when I tested my sending ISP......is shown below. Can anyone explain all this gibberish to me? From the FAQs on the sites etc, it "sounds " like somehow my email showed up on a Russian site suspected of spam operations. (have no idea how that could have happened as my password was close to impossible to crack. Further reading suggested that it was all but impossible to get an address off these sites once they were put on it...............So now COX, I have done what Possibly you should have done to help inform me. That said.....What happens now?????
