Gigablast Speeds Not Obtainable?

I signed up for the Gigablast service over a month ago and I have still not been able to get over 350Mbps download speed. They replaced my modem with the Panoramic Wifi one that supports MOCA (I also was talked into upgrading my TV to the IPTV service so I have 3 mini MOCA boxs). It was all given to me as a self install package and well, nothing worked when I got home and plugged it all in. I called support and they scheduled a tech to come out to check it all. The first tech did absolutely nothing just sat on the phone with someone and asked him questions - he tells me I need to get a different TV box for it to work. So I take 1 box back to the store and they say that it should work and there is no other box. They say someone did not add a package to my account so that's why nothing was working - said it should work fine when I get home. Well it didn't fix anything. So I called customer support back and they scheduled another tech to come out. They said this tech was an advanced tech. So I wait the 2 days for him (with no internet or tv I might add). This tech did actually know what he was doing and got my TV's working with no problems and I think he just assumed that fixed the internet speeds but after he left I checked speed test and no joy. Called support again and they scheduled another advanced tech to come out. This tech seemed to be knowledgeable also - he checked my signal from the peg all the way to where the cable connects to my Pano modem and was getting 1.1Gbps speed, but as soon as he connected to the modem and plugged his tester into the LAN RJ45 out connector on the Pano he gets 350Mbps to 400Mbps. He thought it might be the modem so he swapped it out with another but same issue. He said he would note in his ticket to escalate it to the next tier but I have yet to get it resolved.

I have a Arris CM8200 cable modem that had extra from work that I thought about testing to see if the Pano modem was the issue, but I don't think my MOCA devices will work with that modem? Is that correct?

  • Hello. Escalations such as these typically take about 72 business hours to be resolved. If you are still experiencing issues after that time, I would send us an email to cox.help@cox.com with a link to this conversation and your full address so we can investigate the issue for you. -Allan Cox Support Forums Moderator.

Allan, would you please clarify exactly what "72 business hours" means?  I spoke with a Cox representative a few weeks ago who said that business hours are 8:00am to 8:00pm M-F, excluding holidays.  He implied that "72 business hours" is the accumulation of just those business hours.  So, in the absence of a holiday, saying 72 business hours is a subtle way of saying eight (8) days.  I hope he was just confused and 72 business hours really means three business days, i.e excludes holidays and weekends.  If that is in fact the case, why not just say three business days? Thanks.
