Internet Non-Speed

I work from home and every morning for the last 3 months i have attached my Desktop directly to the Cox Modem, rebooted both and run a series of speed tests. Let me say first that I pay $225 a month for the 300Mb service as well as the No Limit Data usage packet. I pay a lot. Over the last 3 months though i find that i don't get anywhere near 300Mb, actually it comes out to average around 35 or 40. Now this may be a problem with Cox Modem or Cox line but bottom line is these are both Cox issues and I am not getting what i pay for and frankly i'm a little tired of it. The competition offers speeds higher than Cox is giving me for $40 a month ... why am i paying you? I have done all the things on my end it is not me or my equipment. I can't seem to get Cox out here to test up to the house to see if it is getting at least that far. If i call support they just blame it on  my stuff and try to upgrade me to Gigablast. Are you saying that if I want the 300 i pay for i will need to upgrade to a more expensive service? Since you wont seem to come out should i see if CenturyLink will come out? I can only get 40Mb from them but that's all i get from you so whats the difference? I work from home and can't use a service that drops at the worst time and doesn't provide the speed it advertises.

I would hate to think i am being throttled because i use Roku instead of your cable. While i know that your lobby made sure that is no longer illegal, i can still take my $225 and go elsewhere. The last person I talked to at Cox told me if i wanted to do that i should ... is that your final word? I can have it hooked up in a day.
